Who are the American Idol Grand Finalists in 2008?
It's the question we've been waiting to learn the answer to all season. Many of us have had our hunches about who would face off in the final show down but tonight we find out.
Everyone is pretty sure that Syesha Mercado is the one who will be leaving tonight but in this game, anything is possible.
And how many people were frantically dialing over night for the final tally to result in 56 million votes being cast this week.

After a long recap of all the performances and home town visits etc we're finally starting to get close to a result!
And with that, the predictions ring true. Syesha is out!

I wonder if oldiefan is a credible music critic or an actual musician and or singer. You sound like a bitter person?
Wednesday's show was predictable as far as the final 2 standing. I thought the guest " singer", former idol Fantasia was extremely horrendous, both in her new look/ appearance and her horrid "singing "; Her stage presence left a lot to be desired, too...very poor choice on the producer's part as to this "star" guest singer.Would've liked one of the other past idol shows runners-up instead, or some current star off the pop charts--anyone, I believe, would've been better musically than Fantasia,-- even dorky current undeserving contestant , the boring , "squinty -eyed", breathy, lyric-screwing / lyric changer of "Imagine'" leaving out the entire lines that give that song it's true meaning-- little David A.--who'd better not win! He is so immature , even for 17--and his "aw shucks" -like comments each week and his fluffy, big-boy songs emitting from a tiny little mouth and his un-exciting stony-faced singing style , should have gotten him booted long, long ago, before Carly or Michael Johns, even. His teeny bop fans with their repeated, continual voting probably 200 times in the 2 hour voting period, is why he's still there ( unless the show IS rigged--the judges all gush over D.A. as if none had ears to hear his flubs, and are blind to the bland "performances", saying stuff like "You're the one to beat" , "that was the best song tonight/ to date" way back. David Cook is just like any other " rock star wannabe" , not truly original, but at least he does have expressions and can screech out something that doesn't sound the same every week. He kind of seems more personable in his successive performances . Syesha should have gone long ago, back when she was among the " bottom 3" many times. If not for the gushing judges ( and possible rigged outcome) plus the teeny bop vote, America would have voted off her as well as little David Archelutta quite a while back. Syesha ( who was consistently awful each subsequent week from day 1) did a very poor performance with all her songs, but especially so in attempt at "Fever"--she neither appears "sexy" nor a believeable imitator in her poor song choices and terrible renditions. As for the outcome, I think it may be Archelutta simply because the "fan vote" seems to be only a part of the actual outcome. That aside, hopefully Idol producers and directors will give the judges some lines that can be delivered in a believ- able manner next year.I wonder if any of the actual David enthusiasts will go out anf buy his AI -produced CD. Little David is horrible to watch, never mind the singing--and Cook 's voice is just like any other rocker wannabe imitator.
Wow that is really harsh. My bet is Cook was pretty gawky and awkward at 17 too. Don't give me that Arch is only in it because of gushing judges. Cook, too, has been told he's the one to beat by all three judges. Maybe thats why HE is still here. Or maybe they are both here because there are a lot of people in this country who like each one of them. I agree Arch has probably been a little sheltered but I think he's has really grown in 3 months. Its not fair to compare his 17 year old gawkiness to a 25 year old who has had time to find himself musically and personally. Arch did great renditions of Sweet Caroline & America which were upbeat. Give the kid a break. Since when are shyness and politeness bad things. One thing I will agree with is that Carly & Johns were prematurely voted off and much more talented than Castro & Syesha. However, take a listen to castro's studio cuts. I was pleasantly surprised by his voice. Cook is very good and will probably win cause idol needs a rocker in their winner's circle, but I think given the right material and promotion Arch could be a pop artist who appeals to the 16-24 age group who like pop over rock. I can't help but think both will find their audience no matter who wins.
LOL..yeah Fantasia sucked what happened to her??? I mean back when she won this thing she was definitely promising as the next great Diva and that performance tonight??? I thought I was in techno hell...thank God for TIVO!!!!!
As far as who should win this, I'm sorry but I'm stuck. I mean David C is the most talented but this dude also had a record deal...David A is young (sure he may lack obvious personality....but he obviously has some fan base) so David A is the underdog and I try to vote for the underdog. I just couldn't believe that he was the "Vote for the Worst" last week!!! I mean he's been on top for weeks!
Whoever said that he has had a bad voice for the past few weeks needs to invest in hearing aids...he sounded awesome as he always does.
Thank God others agree with me that Fantasia was horrible!! She looked like a flaming red haired bull dyke... and is it just me or did she gain an extra 20lbs... Seriously, if that was an audition song she would have been raked through the coals by Simon and booted off by America. I honestly hope that was Fantasia's final performance. Oh and Randy also shared Simon's face of disgust and Paula remained the same tone deaf cracked out kiss ass bopping to the beat (too bad there wasn't one I could hear) Cook better win this thing don't F it up America.
I agree that DC is better technically but when he sings, I can't feel anything. My reaction after he sings is like - that's a good number/song, his range is good.
But when DA sings, I feel a certain tugging at my heartstrings, my jaw drops, I look forward to every word and that the song takes on a new meaning and not a new version ... Does that make any sense?
Did anyone notice that when Syesha sang her final song after elimination, the sound of her singing continued even after her lips stopped moving and she smiled? Was she lip syncing?
I had to go back and check a few times but sure enough she is smiling and her last note is being sung!
That is tough to call because it was not a word note, She could have very easily been making that note through her teeth. I don't think she was lip sinking because that version sounded different than the one last night a little.
I do not plan to watch the 2 davids. I think there should be an age limit on who can vote. David A has been in bad voice for the last 3 weeks. Yet no one has bothered to say it. Syesha has had the most control over her voice she is a star. Both Davids are BORING.....

Did you hear the melodic tones in his a capella performance. Let's see DC do that. Would sound like nails on a chalkboard
1. You spelled A capella correctly and for that I thank you.
2. David A does A capella WICKED! (mean that).
3. David Cook could do an "ok" job of it I think (He did very well with "first time ever I saw your face" and while it does have music in there it was very soft.). But to your point he would not even touch David A in this department.
4. Who the hell cares???? how many A capella records have been sold?
DA has been in bad voice...wishful thinking.
His voice is remarkable and consistent to the point that it lulls people to want more.
He's like a guy that makes every Free Throw...it's boring to watch and everyone wants to see them fail...that doesn't mean they aren't a great free throw shooter.
Couldn't agree more. Don't know why everyone seems to want to see him fail. Jealousy maybe. But I can't get enough. I have already made a CD of just him from everything I can get off LimeWire.
I want everyone, whether your a David A fan or David C fan to watch this video at this link. This show is so rigged it it not even funny and it is bull shit. I am an Archuleta fan, however I also think Cook can sing like crazy, however the show is rigging a cook win. How do you think this is making Cook feel? Knowing that he may not have won with ought the intervention? Did anyone else notice that he seemed very bummed out tonight? I think this is crap and the show needs to be over after this year. Anyways, please watch it.

Ok I watched it. Twice even. There is defintely some funny stuff going on there. BUT even the voice coach for Archuleta said that though he did a wonderful job he sounded much better on TV than he did in the auditorium.
Next week's Finale should be titled David's Cook'in Achuleta
Gosh. David Archuleta is so BORING. And FAKE! Sure hope David Cook mops the floor with the squinty faced David Archuleta who is about as exciting as a glass of warm milk!

That is right the song Fantasia sung was horrible and it did bore me. I had the same face Simon had I couldn't believ how bad it was
OMG that song was HORRIBLE.....LMAO she sucked bad!! Simon was right on the money with that look there were 3 people in my house watching and we all looked just like Simon....and she looked bad and i had no idea what the song was damn!! she must've gone temporarily deaf....and someone should have told her she looked really crappy in that "outfit" too!!!!
