I can't stop loving david A. I can hardly hear david cook's lyrics. David A reminds me of robin thickie his voice is very warm and he looks like a diamond. My 100% vote goes to david A.
Do you vote for the night or the season? After watching 14 weeks, there is no doubt in my mind Cook IS the American Idol.
I live in Park CIty, UT. You have no idea the fuss in this state over Archuleta. There is a a ton of that type of talent here. After all, High School Musical 1, 2 & now 3 are filmed in Salt Lake. That's where he belongs. And believe me Nigel will be coming to Salt Lake next year looking for it.
You know...my opinion is based on my personal likes in music...and I'll have to tell you that Archie's song required much more vocal skill than Cook's U2 cover. Archie's song may have been slow...a ballad...whatever, but it required all tones and keys (low/high), vibrato...and anything else a true singer has to offer. You can say Archie is no Elton, but Cook is no Bono...so what point does that make.
I'm a 39 year old and find Archie's vocal talent and prowess unmatched in this year's competition...call him boring...call him safe...but you can't call him Daughtry...which is how another contestant (Cook) made his stance most of the season. Sorry...but even you Cook fans keep referring back to the likeness. I wonder if you would be making the comparison if Daughtry WASN'T successful...hmmm (even though the comparision would still be justified).
"Archie" would sound horrid with the U2 song in comparison to David Cook, so does that mean that David Cook can outsing "Archie"? No. Once again just two different styles.low high keys are sung in both and vibrato is in both, it's just done more in a sustained note (ballads by default sustain most notes and draw them out).
Cook did a good Job his U2 song. "Archie" did VERY well with Elton's song. In fact I would say that he probably would have shocked Elton himself on that one.
He may be no Elton… But Elton is no 17 year old. I am a Cook fan but that kid nailed that song just about as well as it ever will be sung by anyone other than Elton John.
I think his other two songs were just ok. Cooks same. Just ok.
Better Singer? David Archuleta. Better Entertainer David Cook. Better all around marketable asset that I would want to represent as an agent…
Okay I'm a 25 year old woman, I'm long past my tween and teen hormonal days, and have yet to approach the gastly menopausal years but honestly, to be perfectly fair.........the two boys have earned the right to be the last two (2) contestants. I have been clocking this show since the very first auditions. However when you take into account just what an American Idol is in terms of originality, versatality, consistancy and performance, that Idol is going to CATER to his audience, the answer is pretty obvious who will be the ONE out of the two (2) to deliver. A very simple question answers the debate as to who should bring home the title: Can you see Americans/Canadians spending between $100-$800 to see a rocker perform, cater, engage, identify, and give the audience every taste there is to completely satisfy their palate, and infuse their soul with his originality, artistry, and electric enthusiasm? Or can you see Americans/Canadian's spending the same amount to see a balladeer sing himself to tears? In my opinion to go to a David A concert would be "buyer beware" and tune your ears to the 'ballads' only frequency, and see how long you'll stay there. I bet you wont come out of there saying "That was the best concert ever!" Unfortunately for the poor dear, Archie does not have the raw energy that Cookster has, and I can see that a 2 hour concert with Archie would jack up the sales of Kleenex and keep them employed. The answer is obvious who should claim the title of American Idol. The Cookster is a refined artist that has put forth more effort, more determination, stretched the boundaries, took the risks, he has jumped two feet in and hasn't looked back. I think America should jump in with him. David Cook coupled with his incredible talent and striking good looks can give an 80 year old woman enough energy and excitement to tap her big toe to his rythyms, and dream of being 20 again, and have little 12 year olds saying "he's so dreamy" he has that effect! So little Archie should look at this as a learning experience, and learn to refine himself as well. Don't get me wrong....Archie has given me goose-bumps, and I admit freely that he has a beautiful voice and certianly sang himself a heavenly broad that has brought him this far....which is NOT easy. But if you're in that mellow low-key mood and all you want to listen to is ballads...then by all means he's the one to listen to. Unfortunately he has yet to get a handle on up-beat songs. All the best to the both of them. I also want to say that in my opinion.....Michael Johns should be up there in place of Archie....because Michael was fantastic he brought it strong EVERY TIME.........and Michael against David....THAT would have been a battle! But my Canadian (prohibited) vote is 100% for David Cook!!!
You are absolutely correct. It really depends on what you are in the mood to listen to...do you want to spend two hours at a concert asking yourself "what did he just sing...what was that lyric"...cuz most of the season that's exactly what Cook did...he basically sounded like every other raspy voiced singer and was bearly audible...good thing he can play the guitar and has stage presence...cuz without it...what would be left.
I really think people are grossly underestimating what Archuleta can and will do. Remember...we all know he's not a rocker...but Cook is no country singer...and his emo-take on "Sparrow" was as bad as Kristy Lee Cook trying to country up "Eight Day A Week". Archuleta will be much like Robin Thicke, Michael Buble, Robbie Williams, Nora Jones...there is a lot more choice and variety for him to sing out there than what the weekly AI themes offered.
I think David Cook should win....he comes and sings a different variety of songs and genres every week....yea he makes them rock but their still so very different...and David A. songs all sound the same...he's a great singer....just not a great performer...to be honest he has put me to sleep a couple times.....and he is still so young.
Are you kidding me? Cook sings different genres every week? Wow...that's an extremely subjectiv point of view. He "grunged" up EVERY song he took on...how can you say he performed different genres? With the exception of "Music of the night" all of his songs were emo'd up. So I guess all season...it's safe to say he sang grundge...and opera. That's two...hardly a resume of genres to brag about.
Seriously listen to the different between "Long and winding road" and "Smoky mountain memories"...you will not hear the true vocal differences in approach by Archuleta if you aren't willing to honestly give him the credit he deserves for using distinctively different tones on each song...but hey...we're all entitled to our opinions I guess.
David Cook is incredible. The best contestant to date. He will make it whether he wins or not. If you judge the whole season....overall Cook is the winner. Not to mention he is sexy as hell!!!!
David Cook is incredible. The best contestant to date. He will make it whether he wins or not. If you judge the whole season....overall Cook is the winner. Not to mention he is sexy as hell!!!!
When you look away when you listen, David Cook's voice you want to keep listening and hear more and more. David A has a wonderful voice but looking away when he sings doesn't do anything for me; seems the same. Can't wait for David Cook's first CD. Is it true he started one and it did not progress because he was a contestant on American Idol? Anyone know?---maybe that was a rumor; makes me want to buy it when it comes out for sure even more now!
I am not a rocker grandma but David Cook's voice is
contagious to listen to and gets me moving young again.
I can respect your post...what Cook does for you...Archuleta does for me. You clearly like the rock side of music...I like the more contemporary side...both will do well and should sell some records.
I thought American Idol was supposed to be for the raw talent. Not for someone being raised by pushy parents that pounds his son David to be a performer,
being forced to take lessons. David A seems to be a nice kid with an ok voice-- although every song sounds the same, with the same expressions over and over. He's a young kid with lots of training-- and
he is so staged. How can this be the American Idol?? He sounds the same as when he performed on Star Search.
I don't know about Randy and esp. Simon tonight (forget Paula, she should wear a Tshirt that says "Whatever Randy said"). Randy and Simon are really off tonight bcos I think Cook is THE David that should win. I think Cook is THE IDOL. If I was down to my last few dollars and could only buy a concert ticket for either Cook or Archie, I'd definitely spend it on Cook. Archie hits his notes precisely but that's all that is going for him. Kinda like Josh Groban (Grobin???). Archie lacks showmanship and dynamics as well as stage presence. All he does is stand there and swings his arms back and forth and moves his head up and down...He's still young. Cook on the other hand is what a rock star is and should be. He's got attitude and kudos to him for saying his opinion over Simon. I think Simon was dumbfounded by it. Cook is not only a great ORIGINAL performer but he's smart. I'm looking forward to his first album!!!
We're David Cook fans at this house. He's got a great voice and I hope he goes far. There is something about his performances that is truly special. All in all I thought this was a readlly good season, especially since I previously had no plans on watching a program that I had basically given up on. Go Cook!
I love David Cook. He doesn't sing the same damn song every week. David A. can not sing an up tempo song to save his young life. Plus David A. has to be one of the ugliest kids I have ever seen. I don't know what all the fuss is about. I don't know what the girls see in him. I admit that he has an awesome voice but I wouldn't buy his albums and waste my money when I know every song will sound the same.
Yes, not all David A fans are teeny boppers, but most are and that's just a simple fact. I'm 49 years young, still rocking, although I love all types of music. Both David's deserve the top 2 spots without a doubt. The one that the majority of people will listen to more than a couple weeks is DAVID COOK. They both have careers. I feel David A is too nasal. He's a nice young mormon boy. David C is a nice young man, very mature in his singing style.
The judges are riduculous. They make it seem like the whole show is fixed. Come on, everyone here knows David Cook has so much more talent than DA. Hands down no contest. David Cook is so much more exciting to watch and listen to than DA.
You're entitled to your opinion...which is what makes blogs so much fun.
so...what are you basing your assessment of "talent" on? So...when you go to a concert...do you come out of it saying "wow...the way he moved around stage was worth the price of the ticket...even though his voice wasn't all that strong"?
Yes...Cook has more stage presence...but you can teach that. What you can't teach is vocal prowess...and THAT is what Archuleta has. We all get what we want out of the music we listen you. I personally prefer to be able to understand an artist...feel their performance through the lyrics they sing...and hear the melodic runs that true vocal talent allows...and THAT is what I consider talent...not how well an artist plays up the stage to cover for their lack of vocal skills.
I agree TC. So tired of the same old Monotone songs from DA all season. David Cook is simply AMAZING. I just can't get enough of that kid - simple amazing!
I'm a Grandma and I must say, this has been a great Idol season. Both Davids are awesome but I do think little David did the best tonight. The bottom line is....they are both really sweet boys and I'll feel sad for the one who places 2nd. I think American Idol should make it a draw !!! NOW THAT would really be a surprise for everyone.
Good luck to both Davids
Look, entertainment is entertainment. American Idol is seeking talent from amongst the masses in America and like it or not, we have before us two very talented individuals. The one with the most votes wins but they are both winners in our book. We look forward to the finale along with the other 50 million people. Good luck David's!
David Cook was predictably great tonight...BUT David Archuleta was smokin hot. What a final!!! Judging on performance and not predisposition, Archuleta should win it all tomorrow...Even the judges (including Simon) had to admit that their fav - Cook - didn't measure up tonight....but we all know that somehow the best talent on Idol usually comes in second....It will be interesting to see how America votes. The medal for pure talent HAS to go to Archuleta.....He won it...all three rounds!
Comment somewhat understandable.... BUT I suppose the problem that I have is Simon's comment saying that Archuleta is what America Idol is about... or something along those lines... SEE Archuleta sounds the SAME WEEK AFTER WEEK... makes me want to go in and do some OHHHH's and sing some AHHHH's just to be named the next Idol!!! I'm sorry... he's got a good voice but WHO WOULD BUY HIS ALBULM? I know I wouldn't even pay 1 BUCk to buy a song let alone an album of Archuleta's!! THIS Should NOT signify an American Idol... it is depressing and discouraging!!!! The kid still has some working to do because he sounds the SAME EVERY WEEK!!!!! So, I am hoping and praying Archuleta does not win .... otherwise I can not stand to watch American Idol again... and I've watched every season but one since it started!
DAVID COOK SOUNDS THE SAME EVERY WEEK. YOU NO THE SHOW WHO WANTS TO BE A ROCK STAR. THAT IS WHERE HE SHOULD WIN. EVERY SONG ROCK. EVEN CHANGED MICHAEL JACKSONS SONG TO ROCK. THAT IS GETING CARRIED AWAY.
OMG YOU ARE SO RIGHT - THE SAME WEEK AFTER WEEK. I mean he (DA) is not without talent, but David Cook is such a star so GENUINE, UNIQUE AND NO, I WILL NOT WATCH AI AGAIN IF DA WINS. We will all make David Cook the star he really is with our without this show (David A is better suited for a Disney on Ice program - not for selling albums - I WILL BUY ALL OF DAVID COOKS ALBUMS NO MATTER WHAT!)
Did you catch Simon's comment on Letterman last night? When asked but David L who he thought would win, Simon said David Cook because of where he had come from. Simon came into the competition with a preconception that Cook would win, and even he had to recognize that the best singer - performer - on the stage tonight was Archuleta! As for buying albums, how many of Rubin's have you bought? Talking about sounding the same on every song! David Cook has a distinctive voice and delivery, but not a lot of variety. He sounds the same and can be predictable, but he is still very talented. The competition is not and should not be won by the individual that you or anyone else THINKS might sell the most albums. It is a performance competition and should be based on the head-to-head contest on the stage tonight. Seldom do the three judges agree on anything - but tonight they were unanimous that Archuleta was the best talent on the stage TONIGHT. I doubt that you will be missed if you choose to selfishly tuned American Idol out next year. It will be more your loss than theirs.
David A. is a good singer, but David Cook is the total package - even if he doesn't win because of the stupid ass teeny bopper voters, who are pathetically ignorant, he will still have a WAY BETTER CAREER than D.A. and his overbearing dada.
I AM ALL OVER THE BLOGS TONITE FOLKS BECAUSE THIS KID DAVID COOK IS SIMPLY AMAZING HE IS THE IDOL... HE IS THE WINNER - VOTE FOR DAVID COOK PEOPLE!!! David is THE whole amazingly unique and utterly fantastic package!
Not all voters for David A are teeny boppers! A lot of his votes come from across the age spectrum. And talk about being pathetically ignorant...reread your posting for a lesson in ignorance! Don't let your prejudice cloud the question of talent. Both Davids are immensely talented. A shame only one can win...but based on tonight's competition - and that's what it should be based on - Archuleta won, hands down (or up, too!)...
I can't stop loving david A. I can hardly hear david cook's lyrics. David A reminds me of robin thickie his voice is very warm and he looks like a diamond. My 100% vote goes to david A.

Don't let your prejudice cloud the question of talent. Both Davids are immensely talented. A shame only one can win...but based on tonight's competition - and that's what it should be based on - Archuleta won, hands down (or up, too!)...
ok david cooks first performance was amazing luv you david <333333
