After last night's extravaganza it's almost sad to think that someone needs to go home. Unfortunately for one of these contestants, Idol isn't giving them back anything!
It's looking like Simon's prediction that Carly might be going home is looking like it might be coming true if the polls have anything to say. Here's hoping. It'll be great to see her disappear from the limelight, again.
Apparently they raised over $60million from Idol Gives Back. Not a bad effort. But I wonder how much of that dollar figure was actually given by Idol.

Wow! This year was my first time to watch AI, and it will definitely be my last! What a disappointment! Kristy Lee should have been eliminated instead of Michael! Even before everyone was hating on Kristy I never liked her since the begining! And what's this hype abt her "looking good"?? She's a plain looking gal with no talent! She can't even compare to Michael Johns, who was shockingly eliminated! WTF was with Simon's last comment on him "not choosing the right song"?! I always thought he had a rock edge to him so what the hell?!! Anyway "nice job" America!!!
I missed MJ on the show last night. I thought he, and both David's would be in the final 3. All the singers are pretty good this year but in my opinion, only the guys I mentioned have star potential.
Brooke White has an amazing voice and I would love to hear her sing "Stay" by Sugarland. However, I don't think she will make it much longer.
It would be better if AI didn't have "theme" nights and allow the contestants to perform songs they select that reflect their talents in a more positive way.
I also wonder if the voting is rigged. Sometimes I think American Idol producers are the ones who decide to eliminate a contestant. Controversy causes us to react and vote more often. More votes = more advertising which = more profits. Everything is about profits.
Okay well here are my opinion[s] towards this season's top 7..So, here it goes..
BROOKE WHITE
Well, Brooke is very full of energy [I think]. She has talent but really needs to work her way up if she wants to stay in the competition. She is sometimes 'over acting' [no offence to all Brooke fans out there!]. I personally think that when she gets negative comments, she just pouts and looks very sad [as like a puppy] in order to make the judges feel guilty [I think] for giving such comments.
DAVID COOK
Hmn.. What can I say? David is a great performer, got a talent that he can be [very] proud off and has a very 'stellar' personality. In fact, I'd hate to say it but I agree with the judges, he has the whole package. He has this distinct appeal towards the audience that can help him. The thing with David is, he really can do anything.
DAVID ARCHULETA
Ahh.. The most favorite of all young teens [but mostly young teenage girls, right?]. Anyways, David has a very good voice but and has a little charisma going on but still not my fave idol. No offence 'Archie' fans but David's a good singer but not that interesting. He needs to make his performances step up a notch. But he's still great though.
KRISTY LEE COOK
Kristy Lee Cook needs to go home, not that I don't like her, [no offence by the way to all Kristy fans out there] she has a good voice though, but it's just she doesn't have that appealing personality to go on this far of the show. She acts as if she has this competition at the back of her hand.
CARLY SMITHSON
Carly has a very awesome voice. Though I am not a fan of her but as weeks goes by, Carly is getting better and better. I have to say that I think she will be one of them top contestants in the show.
SYESHA MERCADO
Syesha has a good voice but not really that close for the finals. She has this strong voice but isn't really using it. I think she needs to step up a bit if she wants to be a part of the finals.
JASON CASTRO
I think Jason is the one who's mostly gonna win this thing [just an opinion!]. Jason has a very unique personality, is very charismatic and is very talented in playing the guitar and in singing [I just wish he sings one of Jason Mraz's songs]. He has this cute little 'goffyness' in him that can actually make you laugh/giggle. I know that some of you people out there are saying that he doesn't deserve to go this far but you'll eventually see that he has this talent of him.
Yeah well.. those are just opinions. Nothing to personal [I hope].
Your opinions are probably the most backwards I have ever read. Stop saying "no offense to fans," get some balls and make a statement.
Are you listening to the same show as I am? Because I don't think you are. Next time turn the volume up so that you can really here the "talent" Jason Castro has. He sucks and looks like a girl with a bad haircut.
I can't believe I am commenting, but here it goes.
This season is probably the worst season of AI in a long time. I think this batch of contestants has the least amount of talent. Plus the themes each week are not very exciting. Dolly Parton? She's great on her own but everyone butchered her songs. I think the producers are running out of ideas! Beatles two weeks in a row??
So far those who are voted off do not deserve to be voted off. There are a few who should have been long gone and not even in the top 12.
Jason Castro is probably one of the worst contestants, he is out of tune and his variations of the songs he sings are TERRIBLE. I change the channel when he comes on because I might fall asleep, he is boring. The only thing that is keeping him there are his looks (which aren't even that great to begin with).
Kristy Lee Cook and Brooke White are also talentless. THey are very bland and vary on talent from week to week. It seems if Kristy Lee Cook doesn't sing some sort of country song, then she sucks. She should have gone home on that horrible variation of "8 Days A Week." I couldn't believe they even allowed such a performance.
David Archuleta is way too cocky. I agree that because he forgot the lyrics should have be reason to give him the boot. Isn't that part of having the talent to sing? His voice is annoying and seems to be all over the place. He has no power. Again, the only thing keeping him here is the fact that he is cute and stupid teenage girls like him.
David Cook has talent. I will say that. But doing variations on songs and making them more "rockerish" turns me off, because you have to admit that this competition is more popish than any other genre. The whole point of this competition is to be able to sing, not change every single song just so that you don't sound like crap. Doing a cover of a cover just shows no creativeness on his part.
Ramiele was good. Not great. I didn't think she'd go all the way, but I thought that the previous contestants mentioned would have been gone before he.
The only three I think, or should I say thought, that had any talent are Syesha, Carly, and Michael. Too bad Michael is gone, he had some potential. Syesha and Carly are the only ones that I find to be the least boring. But like I said in the beginning, I don't thin the selection this season is something AI should brag about.
I will still be waiting for those blow-me-away performances, but I won't hold my breathe.
I agree that this is one of the worst seasons for AI fans. The talent this year just doesn't compare to previous years. As if that isn't disappointing enough, it's become some sort of popularity contest, instead of talent.......I don't agree with critisizing contestants for appearance, or not enough smiles, or not humble enough, etc... It's not constructive and WHAT ABOUT TALENT?? I've always said that votes from the American public for each contestant should count for a percentage and votes from a panel of professional judges should count for a percentage to try to avoid having the cutest, or most charming, etc. take the top spots as the more talented ones get voted off each week.
If David A. is so "cocky" then how come the judges say that he's the one to beat? He's full of singing talent, has the personality, & the look to make him have the whole package and I think it's sad that you can't see that. But everyone has their opinion, so that's all I'm going to say.
I think that if any of the others had any moral fibre or just plain cojones they would make some kind of stand about the way in which Michael Johns was voted off last week. The obvious rigging of it all notwithstanding (ah duh was an Australian ever gonna win - let's get him out of the way so the god-squad can have a run), the way in which Sleazecress behaved was unprofessional, unethical and just down right nasty. The man has no credos (wasn't he a kiddie show host?) without AI. His ego grows exponentially each week and he really has NOTHING to contribute. I realise that ratings are dropping but to go out with a jerk trying to save the show (and the aforementioned rigging) that is a sign of a management team struggling to keep afloat.
Unfortunately, now they have lost more credibility with thousands believing the voting is rigged. THAT is not the way to bow out of an American institution. All it does is prove to the world that America cannot be trusted and is amoral.
Totally agree. I also think that the males on the show (Ryan/Simon especially) are jealous of Michael's natural good looks and talent. I saw the Jay Leno interview and Gene Simmons came on with the 12 inch platform shoes so that he could dwarf Michael- what a bunch of egotistical weirdos your entertainers appear to be- so obsessively competitive and cruel.
If there is a god, David Archuleta will be voted off soon. I can't believe he survived past the top 12 considering he forgot the lyrics.

Agreed, Mr. Milsap. I kind of don't understand how Johns got sent home before David Castro. The judges really seem to like Castro however...Simon especially loves him. I don't really care for cover versions of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" with the ukulele myself. Simon's preference for Castro over say Carly Smithson, who almost got voted off herself, is affecting the vote too much, and i don't think that's fair, being the things they are saying are totally subjective personal opinion rather than constructive criticism. Why should someone get voted off because Simon would rather hear Judy Garland songs on the ukelele than covers of Queen classics? That ain't right. Michael Johns took forever to deliver even a single decent performance and rode for far too long on alleged potential.
He had little to no chance of winning anyway with his mimicry/forced vocals and minimal stage presence anyway.
If you like him, go see him on the AI tour.

I want to see something from any contestant next week that is simply "Blow you away" fantastic. Lately it's gotten a bit boring, especially with Carly, Brooke, and a couple others. I kinda want to see how they do with the Neil Diamond songs--probably a crucial week for song picks.I also believe the show's producers already have selected their winner, but the show is still entertaining enough, if only to see how awfully smug RYAN acts each week. He should knock off his comments to the contestants, they are usually in really poor taste. Too bad the contestants apparently aren't listening to Simon, we'd see a more exciting show if they did. Michael Johns going is a surprise, I thought maybe it shoulda been Carly or Kristy Lee, and Brooke's tearing up so much is getting very ridiculous.
Why all the hate for KLC? She was less than stellar early on but she has actually IMPROVED each week since then.
MJ and CS are seeming semi-pro plants brought in to up the talent level. They are both potentially great recording artists but have not shown their potential at all lately. MJ had one great week in the last 4 or 5. I think the voting public expected more from them and when they continued to put up mediocre performances, they were rejected. This isn't about looks which is the only seemingly outstanding trait MJ has going for him.
MJ needed to listen to the judges (other than the hormone-laden Paula) and not try to be a rocker...that wasn't his strength but he kept going back to it.
It's time for DC, BW and CS to lift their game or they be shown the door also. It's become obvious over the past few years that you need an endearing personality but have to show growth potential too.
It seems the older the contestant is, the less forgiving the voting public is...they don't seem to have as much upside as the Jordin Sparks and David Archuleta's...or at least that the way I see it.

A friend of mine who works for FOX network said that Ryan was so cruel to Michael (by saying that last year at this point no one went home, then coldly sending him home) because he "tried to get close to Michael" and Michael rejected him. Ryan, you're such a bitch!

I think AI is rigged--David A., despite ridiculous song choices and a boring "Aw shucks" immature demeanor --seems to be the choice of whomever is rigging the show. Call-in votes seemingly don't count--only making bucks for the corporate coffers. I agree, MJ was a "good Kareoke singer", not deserving of being an AI winner , but shouldn't have been booted so soon. Ryan's getting more obnoxious each week. A new host for season 8 would be nice. Syesha, Kristy Lee, & vastly untalented Jason need to go. Final will more than likely be David A & David C

First of all, my comments are more sensible than that of Miss clay. Miss clay, if you have nothing good to say about someone don't say anything. MJ and Kristy are both good. For all you know Kristy will win this all. She got good voice aside from her good looks. Don't blame me for my comments because I am just stating a fact about how America votes.
first of all, the red neck guy is a jerk and should be lynched. and no one had a stellar performance this week. however, mj sounded like a dying cat this week and krity lee needs to go home. she'd get more votes if she stood on stage naked for a minute and a half and didnt even sing. shes not that talented at all IMO

Wake up Idol fans! This is reality TV. The reality is this American Idol and not Australian (Michael), Filipino (Ramiele) or Nigerian (Chikezie). The fact is a full-blooded American will prevail. Dr. No!, 2nd or 3rd place will not make you American Idol.
Watch out Syesha (Africa,Cuban), Jason (Colombian), Carly (Irish) and Obama (Kenyan).
