Top 7 Elimination: actual live blog

Submitted by The Critic on Thu, 2012-04-19 18:06

It's most unfortunate when you read the blurb for tonight's show and it says "The finalists face elimination; LMFAO".

53 Million votes were cast last night, the highest of the season so everyone has obviously decided to take the results seriously.  Someone is still going home.

Before LMFAO and American Idol alumni Kris Allen perform, there are few other orders of business to deal with.

The Top 7 perform together for the last time on the Idol stage and sing Dancing in the Street.  The balloons are pretty cool.

Switchfoot's Stars is the music behind this week's Ford music video.

The difficult moment has arrived and Joshua Ledet and Hollie Cavanagh take centre stage.  Joshua is safe. Hollie is the first in the bottom 3.

Kris Allen returns to perform his new single The Vision of Love.

Skylar Laine and Elise Testone are called to the centre of the stage to review their performances.  Elise is in the bottom 3. Skylar is safe.

Ryan Seacrest pays tribute to Dick Clark who passed away yesterday and

LMFAO perform Sorry for Party Rocking.  I can hear the complaints already.  And that's just for how "live" it is.

Colton Dixon, Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez take the stage for their verdict.

Jessica is Safe. Neither Colton or Phillip has been in the bottom 3 before.  Colton is in the bottom 3 though.

Elise is given another lifeline. Colton and Hollie will learn their fate after the break.

It's a bit of a shock. Colton is going home.

Colton bids farewell with a moving rendition of Lifehouse's Everything.
