Simon Cowell has dropped plans to create a DJ-themed series in e same vein as The X Factor.

Plans for the show were revealed in January this year, with the aim of finding the world’s best new DJ.

However, a representative for Cowell told the New York Post this week that the project will go no further.

"Syco and Overbrook decided not to proceed together on a DJ-competition show," they said.

Cowell’s Syco was to team up with Will and Jada Pinkett Smith’s Overbrook company on the project.
