After last week's drama and uproar over Chris Daughtry being eliminated from American Idol it was always going to mean that the remaining contestants, Katharine McPhee, Elliott Yamin and Taylor Hicks were going to have to dig deep if they wanted to make it into the Grand Final.

*** 1 HOUR RESULTS SHOW TONIGHT ***

I was really worried after seeing what Katharine's songs were going to be as I couldn't stand either of them but she pulled out the stops to create some great moments.

Elliott wasn't on his game as much as he was last week and put himself on the knifes edge for tonight's elimination.

Taylor once again entertained but proved that he doesn't have the best voice in the competition. So who did you think was the best and deserves to be in the Grand Final. Let's take a look at the Idolblog.com polls.

<!-- BEGIN: AdSolution-Website-Tag 4.3 : american.idolblog.com / 468x60 --> <!-- END:AdSolution-Tag 4.3 -->

Elliott Yamin (24%) has dropped from the top of last week's poll to being on the bottom. There is a reasonable gap between him and Katharine McPhee (34%) which leads me to believe that is definitely going to be Elliott going home this week.

Taylor Hicks (42%) once again is the favourite and if his luck continues will be crowned the next American Idol.

For the second week in a row Katharine McPhee (39%) is the person you'd most like to see go tonight while Elliott Yamin (36%) comes in second with Taylor Hicks (25%) being the least favoured to be leaving the competition.

<!-- BEGIN: AdSolution-Website-Tag 4.3 : american.idolblog.com / 300x250 --> <!-- END:AdSolution-Tag 4.3 -->

I'm not sure that we'll see a big shock result tonight. I think Taylor is safe and he'll be one of the Grand Finalists next week. Going home? I think it will be Elliott and that seems to be the general concensus across the net.

Stay tuned for details as they come to hand.

More than 50 MILLION VOTES were made last night so there are obviously plenty of people with vetted interest in who is going through to the finals.

We get to see the homecomings that each of the final three had this last week before each of them gets to sing.

Taylor sings The Doobie Brothers - Takin' It to the Streets - Takin' It to the Streets Takin' it to the Streets. Katharine sing's Aretha Franklin - Aretha's Best - Think Think. Elliott sings Brian McKnight, James Moody, Quincy Jones, Rachelle Ferrell & Take 6 - From Q, With Love - Moody's Mood for Love (I'm In the Mood for Love) Moody's mood for love.

Clive Davis is being awarded a plaque for 33 million sales worldwide.

Of the 50,000,000 votes cast last night, the break down was:

33.68%
33.26%
33.06%

The person with the lowest number of votes is Elliott Yamin

American Idol Episode 38 - Top 3 Performance Review

Tonight our three remaining American Idol contestants have a real challenge on their hands. Two of them will go through to the Grand Final and one will miss out. To get there, they will each be singing three songs. One chosen by the judges. One chosen by themselves. And one chosen by legendary music producer Clive Davis.

I am finding it really hard to decide who I want to see in the Grand Final. Now that Chris Daughtry has gone, I'm thinking that it should probably be Taylor and Katharine but Elliott has really stepped it up. If Elliott can continue to impress this week then we may very well see him in the final with Taylor as I think Katharine may on her last legs in this show.

It's going to be a big night so buckle yourself in and get ready for a real treat.

Stay tuned for details as they come to hand.

Elliott Yamin
Clive's Song choice: Journey - Journey: Greatest Hits Live - Open Arms Open Arms
Ph Vote: 1 866 436 5701 or 1 866 436 5704 or 1 866 436 5707
TXT Vote to 5701
My Thoughts: This is a nice song for Elliott. Once again he's singing it but he's so broadway. Great voice. But better on broadway than in pop music.
Randy:
Paula:
Simon:

Katharine McPhee
Clive's Song choice: R. Kelly - R. - I Believe I Can Fly I believe I can Fly
Ph Vote: 1 866 436 5702 or 1 866 436 5705 or 1 866 436 5708
TXT Vote to 5702
My Thoughts: As much as I am over this song I am loving Katharine's phrasing in the verse. She's quite Christina Aguilera sounding tonight which is surprizing for me to actually admit that I'm liking.
Randy:
Paula:
Simon:

Taylor Hicks
Clive's Song choice: Bruce Springsteen - Born in the U.S.A. - Dancing in the Dark Dancing In The Dark
Ph Vote: 1 866 436 5703 or 1 866 436 5706 or 1 866 436 5709
TXT Vote to 5703
My Thoughts: When Bruce Springsteein first released this song I loved it. Hearing Taylor's performance of it was ok but it felt a little reserved for me.

Paula:
Simon:

Elliott Yamin
Paula's Song choice: BOBBY CALDWELL - Forever Love - What You Wont Do for Love What You Won't Do For Love
Ph Vote: 1 866 436 5701 or 1 866 436 5704 or 1 866 436 5707
TXT Vote to 5701
My Thoughts: Elliott is slightly off his pitch in this song which makes it a little harsh on the ear. After the wonderful vocal performances he has been putting out, this kinda undoes all of that. Not a great vocal at all.
Randy:
Paula:
Simon:

Katharine McPhee
Simon's Song choice: Judy Garland - Over the Rainbow - The Very Best of Judy Garland - Over the Rainbow Somewhere Over The Rainbow
Ph Vote: 1 866 436 5702 or 1 866 436 5705 or 1 866 436 5708
TXT Vote to 5702
My Thoughts: What is it with the song choices for Katharine tonight?? However, starting accapella and bringing in a soft guitar is real classy. This is so tender and sweet. Once again I am loving her phrasing. I am impressed that Katharine has twice been able to wow me with two songs that I really aren't big fans of.
Randy:
Paula:
Simon:

Taylor Hicks
Randy's Song choice: Joe Cocker - Joe Cocker: Super Hits - You Are so Beautiful You Are So Beautiful
Ph Vote: 1 866 436 5703 or 1 866 436 5706 or 1 866 436 5709
TXT Vote to 5703
My Thoughts: This is once again a nice song choice for Taylor. He doesn't have the best the chops left in the competition by any stretch of the imagination but he's so entertaining. Fantastic.
Randy:
Paula:
Simon:

<!-- ValueClick Media 468x60 Banner v1.4 for idolblog.com --> <!-- ValueClick Media 468x60 Banner v1.4 for idolblog.com -->

Elliott Yamin
Elliott's Song choice: Ray Charles - The Genius Sings the Blues - I Believe to My Soul I Believe to my Soul
Ph Vote: 1 866 436 5701 or 1 866 436 5704 or 1 866 436 5707
TXT Vote to 5701
My Thoughts: This was an ok performance for me but I don't think Elliott has pulled out the same level of performances that he did last week. This may be the last time we'll see him on the stage tonight.
Randy:
Paula:
Simon:

Katharine McPhee
Katharine's Song choice: Ella Fitzgerald - The Complete Ella Fitzgerald Song Books - I Ain't Got Nothin' but the Blues I Ain't Got Nothin' but the Blues
Ph Vote: 1 866 436 5702 or 1 866 436 5705 or 1 866 436 5708
TXT Vote to 5702
My Thoughts: This is an adventurous song that Katharine has chosen and while it wasn't her best performance of the night it was definitely the kind of song I'd expect to hear her choose. Katharine has a great voice and I think she's done enough to put her into that Grand Final spot.
Randy:
Paula:
Simon:

Taylor Hicks
Taylor's Song choice: Otis Redding - Otis! The Definitive Otis Redding - Try a Little Tenderness Try a Little Tenderness
Ph Vote: 1 866 436 5703 or 1 866 436 5706 or 1 866 436 5709
TXT Vote to 5703
My Thoughts: Well... The intro of this was just plain boring. Thankfully there is some life after the intro where the Taylor that we've all come to know and love over the last 15 weeks or so is able to come into his own. I can't see the grand final without him in it.

Chris Daughtry being headhunted by Fuel

Submitted by The Critic on Mon, 2006-05-15 21:31

After Ryan crushed Chris Daughtry's hopes of winning American Idol he's found himself in hot demand, not just on the talk show circuit, but by the band Fuel who want Chris to take over the lead singers role.

While Chris was reluctant to say he'd accept the offer when Ryan Seacrest quizzed him on his radio show, the band had this to say on their official website

'All right. Check it out. Here's the deal. Normally, obviously, we would never even think about anyone from Am Idol as a singer for Fuel. However, ever since Chris sang Hemorrhage on the show, we began paying attention. Sorry, the show's not my thing, but at least most of the finalist can sing and aren't Britney Spearing it up there. However, Chris in my opinion has carried himself well on the show and has stayed true to his rock side, which is a serious credit to him considering the format. We have found some great guys through the audition process and in fact, were already headed in other directions when Chris unexpectedly got voted off the show. The phones started ringing. So now what? I think anyone would say that we would at least have to entertain the idea of Chris and Fuel. The websites have been flooded with support for the idea ever since he sang Hemorrhage from most of you. So that is what we are doing. We are entertaining the idea and the offer to Chris was that we would be willing to entertain him as an option. However, there is a lot to discuss and be decided. Is it right for us? Would it be the right thing for Chris? Would he even be able to get out of the contractual obligations to Am Idol? Would we be able to get things squared with Sony? So nothing is cut and dry, even if both camps thought it was right thing to do, it still might be impossible to work out all the details. Chris and I have discussed the possibility before and we are still entertaining the idea. Either way, never fear, we are coming with a great lead singer very soon who we are very excited about and rolling out a record this year.

The next step on Chris's journey will be an interesting one and everyone will be anxiously watching to see where he goes from here. Exciting stuff!

What a week on American Idol. After singing the hits of Graceland's Elvis Presley Elvis Presley the web has been rife with Katharine McPhee's fans complaining that this week's theme gave the boys an unfair advantage.

It was a bit of a tough theme for Katharine as many were picking it would be both her and Chris Daughtry in the finals but the polls are painting a very different picture after last night's show.

Whatever the result tonight, there will be an uproar. Last week, everyone was expecting it would be Elliott going home this week but after last night, he's streaked ahead of the field. Let's take a look at the Idolblog.com polls.

Katharine McPhee (16%) finds herself languishing at the bottom of the pack and Chris Daughtry (24%) isn't too far behind her.

<!-- BEGIN: AdSolution-Website-Tag 4.3 : american.idolblog.com / 468x60 --> <!-- END:AdSolution-Tag 4.3 -->

Taylor Hicks (27%) is in second place this week but for the first time in the competition, Elliott Yamin (33%) is on top and is set to become the next American Idol.

When it comes down to who you want to go home, it's pretty obvious that you didn't think the theme suited Katharine McPhee (43%) as she leads this poll by a good margin. Despite being the favourite contestant this week, Elliott Yamin (25%) is second as to who you'd like to see leaving. Taylor Hicks (19%) is in third place while Chris Daughtry (13%) seems to be the one people would like to see go the least.

What ever the result tonight, it's going to have a lot of fans up in arms. BRING IT ON!

Tonight our four remaining American Idol contestants are singing the songs of an original American Idol and the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley Elvis Presley. It should be a great show as these four remaining Idols have some decent fan support so I suspect that they'll all be pulling out the stops to win over our votes.

Legendary music Mogul Tommy Mottola will be critiquing the Idols tonight. (Thankfully no one will be singing Maraih tonight.) It'll be interesting to see what the guy who headed up Sony Music Entertainment for 15 years has to say about their performances. What a privledge for the contestants to be working with him this week.

Stay tuned for details as they come to hand.

Last night our American Idol finalists sang two songs. One from the year of their birth and one from this week's Billboard Magazine charts. Tonight, one more will be eliminated leaving us with four.

The Top 5 will also perform a group song tonight but before the show gets started and a few more tears are shed, let's check out our weekly review of our American Idol Polls.

Everyone was kind of expecting Paris Bennett (9%) to be the one going home last week over Kellie Pickler so again I think everyone is expecting that it's her turn tonight. If not, in second place is Elliott Yamin (15%).

American_Idol-468x60

Chris Daughtry (28%) once again tops the poll while Taylor Hicks (25%) moves back into second place with Katharine McPhee (24%) dropping into third after last night's performance.

The "Who should be sent home" poll is quite interesting this week. While Paris Bennett (53%) is by far the favourite. Katharine, Taylor and Elliot are in a group while Chris only got 5% of the vote.

<!-- BEGIN: AdSolution-Website-Tag 4.3 : american.idolblog.com / 300x250 --> <!-- END:AdSolution-Tag 4.3 -->

Stay tuned for details as they come to hand.

Voting numbers are only down slightly from last week's 47.5 million to 45 million. The top 5 perform Together We Are One which was performed by Delta Goodrem at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne Australia in March.

Safe: Taylor Hicks, Chris Daughtry, Katharine McPhee

Bottom Two: Paris Bennett and Elliott Yamin

Going home: Paris Bennett
