Last year's runner up Lauren Alaina and this week's mentor Mary J Blige are both with us tonight.

Who is going home?  If the polls are right, either Jermaine Jones or Elise Testone.

First up, the Top 13 perform Stevie Wonder's As.

Which American Idol contestant is leaving us tonight?

Submitted by The Critic on Thu, 2012-03-08 17:47

Tonight we'll be saying farewell to the first American Idol finalist of 2012.  It will come down to the girl and guy with the lowest number of votes and then the judges will decide who is going home, X Factor style.

Phillip Phillips may not be at the elimination tonight as he was rushed to hospital with suspected kidney stones earlier today.

Taking a look at the polls, Jessica Sanchez was by far everyones favorite from last night, securing 45% of the vote.  Phillip Phillips was the only other contestant to break double figures with 13% while Hollie Cavanagh just missed out on 9%.

At the other end of the spectrum, and as is fairly common at this stage of the competition, it's a log jam.

Our tireless Idol host has got caught up in the latest marketing stunt from Sacha Baron Cohen on the Academy Awards red carpet tonight.

Ryan Seacrest was chatting to the British comic, who was kitted out in his full ‘Dictator’ outfit complete with a gold urn containing the “ashes” of Kim Jong Il, prior to the ceremony when Cohen took the opportunity to spill the contents of the urn.
