I think David Archuleta got robbed. He was, by far, the bigger talent. I think the producers decided who won. I think, because Archie was so young and could make it the rest of the way to stardom on his own, they decided to give Cook the break of winning ... but I don't think it was fair. I think the extra 11 million votes actually landed in Archie's favor, but the producers called it the other way and so flipped it. I like David Cook ... he was good, but Archie was GREAT! He made goose bumps rise on my skin when he sang, and that's not easy to do. I was brought up in a musical family with a mother who sang opera well enough that she had been advised to audition at the Met, but she married Dad instead. I know talent when I hear it ... and the greater talent was Archie. It's too bad when producers decide to change the outcome ... and it's even worse when the American people stand by and let it happen. There is no other reason why Simon would have apologized. He is not one to take back his words even if they had been wrong, other than the producers forcing it. Boo to American Idol. I'm not booing David Cook because, as I said before, he is good. I am expressing shock at the ending of this year's much watched American Idol. The shock of losing Michael Johns so early was nearly devastating too. Why was he cast out? That had to be a "behind the scenes" decision as well. I can't believe the American public would have voted that way either. Double boo to American Idol.

the biggest knock against Archuleta was that he never showed he had range outside the majestic world of balladry. His choices of songs never strayed much from tried-and-true schmaltz (Robbie Williams' "Angels," the Beatles' "The Long and Winding Road," Neil Diamond's "America"), and when he did try to stretch things a bit, the results were disastrous, like his take on Chris Brown's "With You."

If cook win because of Chris Daugthry, this is the biggest mistake done by american people. Chris excellent nowadays because he didn't win and able to advance his carrer.. But we still don't know what will happen to Cook in future....

Archie is the one supposed win this season....

I am very happy that David Cook won, I have been an avid fan of his for a long time. He is very original, unique, and I never knew what to expect from him. I was always looking forward to hearing him sing every week. He has proven he can sing any genre, whether it be ballads, rock, Broadway, etc... He has also had the ability to change older songs into newer versions that could be released today..(I especially liked the Beatles' Daytripper) This is what sells albums. There is no doubt David Archuletta has a beautiful voice, but I feel it is more contemporary, or gospel, and is suited perfectly for ballads. I don't feel that is exactly what I would blast in my car or get really excited about. I feel that David Cook deserved to win, he is more well- rounded, more willing to take risks, and will definately go further at this time. I also was a HUGE Chris Daughtry fan, and I DO NOT think just because they are both "rockers" they are the same! They sound nothing alike. They have their own styles, and remind me nothing of each other. The best thing about these two remaining Davids in the final 2 is the support and loyalty that they have shown each other . They have been kind and gracious to each other, and their actions have shown me as a person they are both winners. These nasty comments people have been writing regarding each of these contestants is in very poor taste, and you are not impressing anyone. You are just showing everyone else how small-minded and infantile you are. Both of these young men, whether one is a bartender or a young kid would not appreciate you bashing their friend. CONGRATS DAVID COOK!!!!! I voted 500 times! See you at Rupp Arena, Lexington, KY!!!

WOW! This show American IDOL is really fix, David Cook is good, but David Archuleta is millions of times better. His vocals are effortless, he can hold atune, he has melody and he really wanted this. David Cook is OK, he does not have the range of voice that David A. have, and he can't hold any tune different than rock, beside he didn't want to compete, but his brother did. This was fix and I am very dissapointed with American Idol. Look at the amount of loser like, Ruben, Fantasia, and Taylor Hicks, how can they ever represent talent, we also have winners like Kelly and Carrie. David Archuleta should have been the winner just like Christ D, should had won instead of Taylor . Well, hopefully a great record producer will offer David A. a record deal and we can all enjoy his beautiful voice.

Why David cook won, despite not being nearly as good as Archie.

The show has always had it's critics, saying AI only ever find just another popstar. This year Cook comes along with a rockstar voice and so Archie was pushed aside, the producers had found their winner.

They give Archie ballad after ballad to ensure people would get bored of his 'one dimensional' performances and allowed cook to choose songs that would makes him appear diverse. Archie originally picked 'Don't wanna miss a thing' and the producers took it off him and give it to Cook.

Even the judges comments are all contrived. They knew giving archie all the praise in the final, would have the opposite effect on most Americans.

They chose their winner, he won. Not because he's great, because he's not, he's just another rockstar wannabe, same as the other 50 or so we see come and go each year.

I was actually really surprised that David A. lost last nite. His vocals are effortless and amazing. No disrespect to David C., I just thought David A. deserved to win, but I guess that's the way it goes. Actually, my first disappointment came when Carly left the show. That was ridiculous. She had the best voice of all the girls and could practically sing anything. I wish it would have come down to her and David A as the final 2.

We all love you David and can't wait to hear you when your in a band...(I'm sure you will be) and you're just amazing and it seems like you're a really humble guy and it would be amazing to talk to you. This is to prove that even though David Cook didn't get the judges on his side, he is still the winner!

I am a huge Archuleta fan, right from the beginning. However I feel that Cooks win was the right choice. I do hope for Cook that he can have the opportunity to show the world, in his own words, " Music is about progression" while constrained by the rules and conditions that come with being the NEW American Idol . It would be a shame to put a hault on anyones potential, progress and individule style that made them a winner in the first place. I think that David Cook is pretty strong minded and soon we will see a side of him that will be mind blowing when he gets out from under the wing of American Idol and into the world of his own creation. I also believe that Archuleta is also a winner and I guess my nose does get a little out of joint when some people and critics put him down simply because he is young, with many added insults to boot. If that young man can sing so beautifully now , I can just imagine how huge he will be when he is David Cooks age. David Cook already has his own style, where Archuleta still has much room to grow and develope his own. I truly believe that he has much more to offer than Ballads, although that is what I love about him. I have been unable to wrap my brain around many of the comments posted by angry, rude, devasted, and mind boggling spew from some viewers. The respect and admiration that Cook and Archuleta show each other makes them both winners in my books, not only for their talent but most important for their in depth character as well. KUDOS to both of them. Do they not both deserve the same respect in return? I am sure that they would both be shaking their heads in disbelief at some of the posts. How can they have respect for a fan that trashes the competion they admire themselves. I wish the best for both and a future full of success and happiness!

I would have been happy if either David won - both are absolutely wonderful. It was a very difficult decision, as their styles are so different. However, David Cook IS the American Idol for 2008, and those of you who are being so petty and selfish over his win are missing the whole point. AMERICA voted, and not everyone agrees with you, so GET OVER IT. For myself, I would love to see both Davids join together and do some songs, or even an album together - "Hero" was absolutely fantastic. Their voices blend so beautifully, it gave me goosebumps. I have no doubt that David Archuleta will also have a fantastic career. He's had some terrific exposure. Now he can get through high school and have some fun before he gets involved in the music business. There were definitely two AIs this year. We should get behind both of them and be happy for their successes.

i like that david cook won american idol, but i wish david archuleta had won because now david cook can't live up to his real potential because he'll be held down by american idol. people were talking about how he was gonna be the next Chris Daughtry and i thought that too but the thing is that Daughtry didn't win idol and i think the only idol he isn't bigger than (yet!) is Kelly Clarkson because she's really made a name for herself as well. And if David Archuleta would have won then David Cook could live up to his full potential. And look at last a man who didnt even make it that far (phil stacy) has an album out right now so you know David c could have made it big. And It really shouldn't have come down to david c and david a because micheal johns was awesome but the thing is we got to "dependant" on him never being in the bottom 3 that we didnt vote for him then when the results show had started we were all in for a rude awakening. Same thing happened with Carly and i think she might not have made it to the bottom 2 but she coukd have gone far enough to where she got a reacord deal. and i actually think she will because she made it pretty far and she has such a beautiful voice. but i cant beleive that amanda overmiher(dont know how to spell it) made it as far as she did. she kept being in the bottom 3 and all i kept wishing to hear was amanda you are leaving us tonite from ryan but that day didnt come soon enough. but the best part of the bottom 12 was when danny noriaga ( dont know how to spell that either) mouthed back to simon that is a highlite moment on my american idol video on youtube.com i showed it about 3 or 4 times through out the video. its actually quite funny. and syeshias day to leave didnt come soon enough either she was such an actor she was never herself on stage she always had to do these stupid things to stay on. it was so annoying. i kept hoping she would leave. i lost 20 dollars throughout 4 weeks to my friend because i kept betting she would leave. i hated david hernandez and chikezie too. i mean what kind of name is chikezie. is that how he entered the contest? would they let him enter without a last name? it just struck me as so very wierd and was chikezie a nickname or did his mother name him that? and what the heck was up with that ugly orange suit he wore that day? it was so screwed up. and david henandez. what ethnicity is he. he almost looks hispanic. i couldnt figure it out and i thought it would be rude to call on live tv and ask him that question. i mean thats not why i didnt like him im not racist but i just couldnt figure it out. i didnt like him because he was just not a very good singer in my point of view. if you guys think he was thats okay. well more later
