One of the on going hurdles that the producers of American Idol continually face is trying to keep the format fresh. Over the last 5 years we've seen a number of changes, mainly to do with the wildcard. We've gone from having a second chance for the initially eliminated contestants to now having two groups of contestants having a 50/50 chance at making it in and performing every week of the semi's. That change has been really positive with all the contestants now having extra time in front of the camera, giving the public more opportunity to get to know who they're voting into the top 12. But this year, there is another aspect to the show that the producers are hoping will spark more public interaction.
In 2007, running in parallel with American Idol, will be a songwriting competition which enables budding songwriters the chance to pen a song for the album of the next American Idol winner. The competition will be open to both amateurs and professionals who want to sumbit tunes for inclusion.
Stay tuned for more details as to prizes etc
Can't wait for American Idol 6! thanks
To make Americon Idol more exciting for 2007, would be to make multiple winners such as American Pop Idol, American Rock Idol, American R&B Idol and American Country Idol, all in the same show. Four winners in the category they are good at.
Chris Daughtry was a great Rock singer and could have won if there was a Rock category. Kellie Pickler could have won the Country category. Taylor Hicks would have won Pop Category and Paris Bennett could have won R&B category.
Simon, Randy and Paula, how about adding this to the 2007 American Idols Contest?
