I can't wait for the recorded version of this song.  I bet it's better than the performance, although the performance was also good considering Katharine's situation that time.

All I hope is that those of you who are singing the praises
of Taylor Hicks never make into important positions calling for sound judgment.  Taylor
could only sporadically carry a tune. A couple of good performances and many
bad ones.  He cannot dance.  He is fat.  He performs in the
pasture of discarded, mediocre wedding singers.  He had months to kick it up a notch,
and he did nothing to improve himself.  Same fat, gooberish, lacking
rhythm, lacking soul performer that was there on day one.  But as another poster posted, “Even a half-dead

RIVER is much more melodious than Taylor on his best day.

I really think Kat should have won, Taylor isn't a good singer, I hate the way he sings, i don't care she forgot her lyrics, that could happen to anyone, even the American Idol Taylor Hicks  i think she could be more successful than Taylor and if i could, i would have voted for her, the song's ok, but she came to stay, however, Hicks only will have an album and after four weeks noone is going to know him and they're going to be embarrased because they were his fans!!!!!!!!! .

There are a lot of successful singers, that are similar to Taylor.

Take Rob Thomas for instance.  Taylor will do fine.

(i.e. Mariah Carey), Pretty much done with all that crap. I'm not a big fan of Taylor, but at least he's something different. He really puts feeling into his work. I just hope the plastic music industry doesn't screw him up. And he doesn't scream about how angry he is in his music like so many others because in the long run no one really cares anyway.

Everyone forgets words sometimes. Sara Evans forgot the words to her song on the ACMA's, and she's done pretty darn well. So, for those of you using that argument against Kat, consider that, and then get a new argument.

talent wise, katharine should have won, hands down. taylor puts up more of a show and everyone gets caught up in it. he gets the crowd going, which then gets him more votes, that is why he won. he also comes from a small town which gets him plenty of votes from his local area, while kat comes from a city where there is not much support. honestly taylor will never become popular, he looks 40 and sounds 40, that doesnt appeal to the audiences that makes songs land on the charts, 45 year old moms dont get songs famous. kat is going to pull somthing similar how clay aiken did to ruben, she will become the more popularone . taylors whole "soul patrol" deal was just a gimmick to get votes, taylor is also very creepy and weird, seriously jsut look at the guy and the way he dances. american idol is a singing competion, therefore it is about vocal talent, not what you can do to scrape up votes by getting the audiences, sure that makes a star, but whats a star without talent?

Katharine has such a beautiful voice.  It's a shame she wasn't from the south really... She's the first person not from the South to ever make the final 2.  In fact, the only other non-southerner to even crack the top 3 was Jasmine Treas.  And we all know Jasmine had the entire state of Hawaii behind her.  The best any other non-southerner has done is 4th place.

SOTR is unbelievable.  My Destiny is way better than when she did it on the show.  It's too bad Katharine was sick for the finale.  I wish nothing but the best for her.

well i think kat and taylor are great singers an' so excellente performers... i think kat deserve to win but i think the song they wrote for her is really bad....that's why she lost... All she needed to win was a better song that could have shown her potential.

Seriously, some issues going on here:

Kat has an amazing voice.  Taylor does too.  Sorry, he's not singing off key, whoever made that comment.  He sings very well.  His style is more old school, but that doesn't make it bad.  Kat also has an old school style.  She isn't a Kelly Clarkson.  She never will be -- she hasn't got the power that Kelly does.  Still, she's amazing.  Somewhere Over the Rainbow is a beautiful song -- My Destiny is as well. 

Both artists will do well.  Neither one will likely go as far as Kelly Clarkson has.  Few artists could.  Taylor has his fans, Kat has hers.  Honestly, I didn't vote in the finals because I couldn't decide between the two.  They're so different it's hard to compare, but both have amazing talent.

For those of you going on about Taylor's dancing -- a star performs.  He's one I'd like to see in concert, because he's fun to watch.  Kat performs as well -- just differently.  American Idol is a singing competition -- but we watch it, so that means it's about performance too.

They'll both release at least one album.  (Someone said that Taylor would be lucky if he released one?  All the American Idols get one album produced)

And to the person who commented about Clay vs. Rueben:  I love Clay Aiken... but he's not doing much now either.
