How very sad that the "talent contest" has now ended, and all that remains is a ridiculous popularity contest. This is, for me, destroying the whole show's credibility.

As the most recent results are revealed we see that Brooke White - after her second successive disastrous performance - is not even in the bottom two. Nothing short of outrageous! Aside from the obvious performance issues, her pouting lower lip / jaw is threatening to envelop her nose by the end of the season. I find myself praying that there could be another 15 shows before it wraps up, because at least then there is a chance she may literally swallow her own head and be done with it.

Second gripe this week - Carly is, in my opinion, the best remaining female vocalist of this season..and yet she is dumped. Personally I don't like her tattoo or even her style but she possesses an undeniable talent that many of the others lack - consistently good vocals. She most certainly didn't deserve to be voted off. It is obvious that people are voting for all the wrong reasons.

Tuning in next week will be very difficult, knowing what a mess the format has given way to. The show's producers should reconsider the whole 'public vote' concept - it clearly doesn't work fairly at all, and they are beginning to alienate viewers.

On the plus side tonight - it was great to see / hear Leona Lewis perform live again. Now there is a perfect example of star quality and real talent.

ps. David Cook is by far the best of the remaining candidates..but this will no doubt drastically reduce his chances of ultimate victory in this contest, given that the American public has lost its head. We can only hope that Brooke White's Magnum Opus (see above) is closer than we think.
