yes.

It's based off Pop Idol a British television series which debuted on ITV 2001; the show was a talent contest to decide the best new young 'pop idol', in the United Kingdom, based on viewer voting and participation.

It's meant to be a singing contest, but it's not. It's a popularity contest. If this were a singing contest they would have told young Mr. David A. that he wins at the start. Laughing out loud

And if it were an actual "singing comp." Jason Castro would not have the chance to be compared vocally with anyone in the top 10 >.>
