She may be able to sing but let's face it this is "American Idol". This show is NOT just a "singing contest" as many of you keep insisting. It is just as much of a popularity contest as it is about singing, if not more. "American Idol" is about the total package. It is about the perosn who can hold an audience, have a personallity, and sell his or herself to the American public, and Melinda is not that person. I am sorry but this is the truth. Sure she can sing, but there are thousands of amazing singers in church choirs, karaoke bars, and shower stalls all over the country, but they are not American Idols, and neither is she. She will go on and have a terrific career in the business no matter what the outcome of the show is, but I just don't see her winning this contest. As sad as it is, Sanjaya has the best chance to win. He may not be the best singer there is but neither are many of the most popular recording artists. How many CDs have Kid Rock, Britany Spears, Justin Timberlake, or hell Milli Vanilli sold?? It's amazing what can be done in the recording studio!!!
