To make it onto this stage is an impressive feat. To get a second chance, miraculous. This is the wildcard show. Tonight the final three places in the Top 12 for American Idol in 2009 will be filled!
A little disappointing.
Randy: Interesting song choice but I don't know if you sung it that well.
Kara: I love your swagger. I love that you let loose and come alive on stage.
Paula: You picked a song that's hard to sing. I'm really impressed.
Simon: You were totally last minute. It was a lot better than we saw first time. I thought it was a little indulgent though.
Two words. Over sung.
Randy: That's how to sing. That's what I want. That was hot.
Kara: You can riff amazingly. A little over the top but what a great vocal.
Paula: This is you this week.
Simon: Again, much better than before. Hate what you're wearing though.
That was ok but I had Katherine McPhee sitting in the back of my mind the whole time she was singing that.
Randy: Wasn't the best vocal but I can see you making these kinds of records.
Kara: I think America needs you and I hope you stay.
Paula: You pick melody. Overall I think you picked the right song.
Simon: I think you're terrific and I think you're current. I like that you're original and quirky.
He's got a great voice but it may have been a little safe.
Randy: It seems a little serious right now but I'm not even sure about the song choice.
Kara: You have great vocal ability but you haven't hit your stride.
Paula: You're not letting the pure Von Smith out and you were thinking too hard.
Simon: I didn't really get it from you that time. There was something more interesting from you the first time we heard you.
It was nice but it certainly wasn't memorable.
Randy: It was a little too big for you. It was way better than the last time though.
Kara: I'm confused cause you have this voice now.
Paula: Overall I think you did a wonderful job.
Simon: That was pretty special compared to what we've heard before. It was like a little girl trying to sound grown up but you just put yourself back in the running.
It was nice but it certainly wasn't memorable.
Randy: That song was not quite the one for you.
Kara: We knew you could sing your butt off. You held your own on a song I wouldn't have chosen.
Paula: You nailed it and had fun.
Simon: The performance was a bit clumsy and I'm a bit disappointed.
When it comes to singing, Tatiana is fairly one dimensional.
Randy: It's like being on a ship with you.
Kara: At least she's not crying and holding her heart.
Paula: Once again, I'm not a big fan of repeat songs.
Simon: Can you sing more than that song? We have heard you sing this three times now.
That was awful. Can he even sing?
Randy: I liked this better than the last time you sang this.
Kara: This is the best you've ever been. I wasnted to get up and dance.
Paula: You certainly are the showman. I'm gald you went back and picked this song.
Simon: Not the best singer we've ever had. But we do need some personality on American Idol.
The Results:
Jasmine Murray is in the Top 12.
Megan Corkery is also in the Top 12.
Matt Giraud is the final member of the Top 12.
But Wait! It's a Top 13 this year! Anoop Desai is also a finalist!
Next week
Kanye West and
Kelly Clarkson will perform.
The destiny of three more idols is about to be confirmed. The Top 12 is about to have 9 members. Who will it be? According to the polls, Lil Rounds, Scott MacIntyre and Jorge Nunez will be the lucky Idols.
Group 3 perform Katy Perry's
Hot N Cold. Just like last week, it's awesome. Has to be lip-synced though. It just sounds too damn good!
First up tonight, Lil Rounds is given her place in the Top 12 right off the bat. She sings
Be Without You and she's just as good as last night.
Back to the results. Taylor, Alex, Scott, Kendall and Ariana are asked to stand. One of them are through. We'll have to wait until after the ads to find out who.
The second spot in the top 12 from Group 3 belongs to either Kendall Beard or Scott MacIntyre. It's Scott MacIntyre though who gets to perform
Mandolin Rain again.
Nathaniel and Kristen both get eliminated. Felicia and Von are both eliminated as well. That leaves Jorge and Ju'not. Jorge is through! No messing around tonight. Jorge will get to sing his song later.
In the meantime, it's wildcard time on American Idol!
There are 8 people who will get to perform tomorrow night on the Wildcard show. The wildcards for 2009 are:
Von Smith
Jasmine Murray
Ricky Braddy
Megan Corkery
Tatiana Del Toro
Matt Giraud
Jesse Langseth
Anoop Desai
Jorge closes out the show with
Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me. Tomorrow night the wildcards perform.
After last nights performances, the general consensus appears to be that Lil Rounds will be earning her spot in the Top 12 as the highest vote getter from the ladies while Scott MacIntyre will take the same honor for the guys.
Jorge Nunez should fill the third spot as the next highest vote getter and should be joined in the face off by either Ju'not Joyner or Felicia Barton.
