More from the Nicki and Mariah show aka American Idol auditions 2013 part 3

Submitted by The Critic on Wed, 2013-01-23 19:09

Charlotte, North Carolina is the destination for the next round of fueding between Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey, I mean, American Idol Auditions.

Feedback from last weeks debut was pretty unanimous. You hated the Mariah vs Nicki stuff.  And the ratings seemed to reflect it as well.

Enough with the reminiscing though, first up this week is fashionista, Naomi Morris.  It's really not a good start though.  Perhaps we should just go back to talking about Nicki and Mariah some more.  The judges drag it out but it's an inevitable no.

It looks like we're starting the week with all the freak auditions.  Next up is Joel Nemoyer who is an advocate for singing while lying flat on the floor.  It's just plain weird.  After a bit of fun with him, he's given another no despite setting an Idol first. ZZzzzzz

Mariah Carey vs Nicki Minaj feud fails to pull the viewers

Submitted by brad on Fri, 2013-01-18 05:38

American Idol kicked off this week with its lowest audience since its first season.

The buzz surrounding the Mariah Carey/Nicki Minaj “feud” failed to translate to viewers and the series dropped 19 per cent on last year’s premiere.

The drop is roughly 4 million viewers, with a total of 17.9 tuning in to see the new judging panel of Carey, Minaj, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson.

The numbers are worrying, given how last season’s premiere was also down on 2011 by around 21 per cent.

American Idol Chicago auditions 2013

Here's to an episode tonight that is more about the 2013 American Idol contestants as opposed to the judges.

First up tonight we see country songbird Mackenzie Wasner. She sings Whenever You Come Around and really impresses the judges who think she has a huge road ahead of her.  And with that we have our first ticket to Hollywood.

Austin Earles has Mariah laughing at his rendition of Fantasy.

The Prayer is Kiara Lanier's song choice for her audition.  She recently sang for President Obama and has all the judges saying wow.  The love that she's beautiful, young and has so much control over her voice.  More unanimousness from the judges.

Stephanie Schimel is delightful with Dream a Little Dream of Me.  It's pretty all round.  The judges love her but Nicki doesn't think she's been as magnetic as the rest of the auditions they've seen so far.

Season 12 starts now!

It's the dawn of a whole new season of American Idol.  It's new.  It's fresh and it has new judges.  Welcome to Keith Urban, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey who will sit alongside Randy Jackson for the 12th season of American Idol.

The auditions kick off this year in New York and it's the same script so far with the judges arriving and the hopefuls looking smitten by the stars.

The Lincoln Centre is full of pumped up contestants but right out of the gate, the drama that we've been hearing about between Minaj and Carey beings to unfold.

Nearly 20 minutes into the show and it's all about Mariah and Minaj which is already tiresome.  Can we hear some new talent please.

28 year old Tenna Torres sang for Mariah when she was 13 and now she is auditioning for her.  She sings You've Got A Friend and she's quite pleasant to listen to.  It's unanimous and she's our first golden ticket winner through to Hollywood for 2013.

Britney Spears departing The X Factor USA?

Submitted by brad on Thu, 2013-01-10 06:07

One season may have been enough for Britney Spears on The X Factor USA.

The Hollywood Reporter is claiming that the singer is one the way out and will not be back for the third season of the show.

Her supposed exit can be put down to dropping ratings, with the show losing a significant portion of its audience to rival shows.

The show’s network, Fox, is yet to comment on whether she will be back.

What Keith Urban really thinks of his fellow Idol judges

First time American Idol judge Keith Urban has commented on his fellow judges, likening them to a dysfunctional family.

The supposed “feud” between Idol judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj has provided plenty of taking points prior to the premiere of the new season and for the most part Urban has been silent on the topic.

However, during the live Q&A event this week in Los Angeles, Urban mentioned how he loves the unpredictability that Carey and Minaj bring to the show.

When asked what his favourite part of the Idol experience has been so far, he said: “The dysfunctional family you see before you, I love being part of. I love the unpredictability.”

When Ryan Seacrest then attempted to bring up the subject of the “feud”, Minaj tried to cut him off.

The Mariah Carey vs. Nicki Minaj Idol feud is "authentic"

Fox’s president of alternative programming Mike Darnell has confirmed that the highly publicised “feud” between new American Idol judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj is true.

"It's authentic," Darnell told the crowd at this week’s 2013 TCA in Pasadena.

"The two of them were always angry," piped up Idol’s executive producer Nigel Lythgoe.

Carey and Minaj were also present, with Carey playing down the tension between the pair.

New novel based on American Idol set for release

A new anonymously-written novel that takes a thinly-veiled look at the tenth season of American Idol is set for release.

‘Elimination Night’ is a work of fiction that claims to have “first-hand knowledge of the inner workings of a top TV talent show."

The novel focusses on a young production assistant, Sasha, who is privy to the behind-the-scenes goings on at a show called ‘Project Icon.

Two of the characters are based on the now departed judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez and a third is clearly inspired by Randy Jackson.
