American Idol Auditions 2012 - St Louis - S11E07

Submitted by The Critic on Thu, 2012-02-02 19:08

Is it eight years ago that we found Carrie Underwood?  What a phenomenal career.  And tonight, we're back in St Louis where it all started for her.  Tonight, thousands more have made the same Journey as the American Idol winner made to audition for the biggest show on television.

First up tonight is 22 year old Johnny Keyser who has it going on with his rendition of A Change Is Gonna Come.  He is incredibly good and the judges tell him to keep singing as they interrupt him with things like "You know you're gonna be a star, right"?.

It's our first venture into Oregon and finally we're here. Known for it's cloudy skies, the crowd is colorful and bright.  Will we find the next American Idol here tonight?  The auditions start now.

Brittany Zika kicks things off with The Story and has a beautiful tone.  We're off to a good start with our first golden ticket.

The Story - The Story

The last time we were in the North-West of the country, auditionees didn't seem that well prepared, apparently.  Have things changed?  Apparently not.

American Idol Auditions 2012 - Houston - S11E05

An intro like no other from the International Space Station orbiting 250 miles above the location of tonight's audtion venue - Houston.

It looks like the producers have saved all the bad auditions for tonight as there is no one with a half decent voice in the first quarter hour.

Finally we get to see 17 year old Skylar Laine who is about as far from a girly girl as you can get.  She's into quad biking and hunting.  But can she sing? Hell on Heels is her weapon of choice.  She reminds me of Lauren Alaina but without the hype. The judges love her so we finally have a golden ticket and someone heading to Hollywood.

The American Idol roadshow is packing up the station wagon and heading to the mountains with a stop for the first time in Aspen.

First up is little miss energetic, Jenni Schick. She sings Heartbreaker and convinces the judges with her energy.  She gets to kiss Steven Tyler.  She's so stoked.

Somewhere near the Pacific Ocean, 10,000 hopefuls arrive with a dream to change their lives forever. What they don't know is, this audition is unlike any other. From on board the aircraft carrier, the USS Midway, this is American Idol.

With the football going into extra time, we're a little behind schedule.  Never mind, it's finally time for the San Diego auditions.

Ashley Robles is a solo mother who finally gets us under with some Whitney Houston.  She's no Whitney but she's definitely got a voice.

American Idol Auditions 2012 - Pitsburgh - S11E02

In 11 seasons, this is the first time the audition train has headed to Pittsburgh.  It's the city of champions so can it produce the next American Idol?

First up tonight is Korean Heejun Han.  When he finally opens up and sings How Am I Supposed to Live Without You everyone is so surprized by how he sounds.  I think everyone was expecting another William Hung. Pleasantly surprized. He is SO through to Hollywood. He sounds Asian when he speaks but when he sings it's totally different.

Where were you on the day it all started and thousands of dreams were born?  10 years in the making.  Kids who were 6 years old when Kelly Clarkson was first crowned American Idol will tonight get their chance to audition for their shot at becoming the next American Idol.

One of the new introductions for 2012 is contestant cam.  Their journies from their perspective.  Fun times.

Tonight our auditions start in Savanah, GA and Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez are back for the 11th season.

First up is 17 year old ladies man David Leather's Jr who beat last year's winner, Scotty McCreery in a competition in 2009.  He sings Remember the Rain.  He's very good. They want to hear him sing some Michael Jackson so he delievers Never Can Say Goodbye. It's a unanimous and resounding yes to start the show.

Paula Abdul's groups have been severely punished so far on the first season of the X Factor USA.  For the two eliminations so far, it's only been the groups who have failed to garner enough votes to keep them out of the bottom two.

Next week, it will be different though.  In the meantime, here is something else you might like to cast a vote for.

The Gillette Odor Shield Sweat for Greatness contest celebrates ordinary men achieving extraordinary things. The three finalists in this year's contest have truly remarkable stories of greatness, as you'll discover in the profiles that follow.

Who is going home tonight? Who will the bottom two be? Can The Stereo Hogzz survive another week or will the judges finally cut them loose to leave Paula Abdul with only one act?

The Top 11 sing Save the World before we get into the recap of last nights performances.

Save the World - Single - Swedish House Mafia

Willow Smith takes to the stage to perform Fireball.  It's incredibly bad.  There is nothing good about this at all.
