Contestant: Chelsea Sorrell
Song choice: Cowboy Casanova
Cowboy Casanova - Play On

My thoughts: It wasn't the start to the show that the boys gave last night but it will do.

My thoughts: This was a really nice way to start the show.  A well known song with a whole new spin on it. Loved it!

American Idol 2012 Top 24 - Part 2

Submitted by The Critic on Thu, 2012-02-23 19:07

Last night we left Adam Brock hanging with the judges, wondering if he'd wond a spot in the Top 24.  He sure did!

Jeremy Rosado has wowed the judges throughout the competition so far and it's no surprise that he's also made it into the Top 24.

Shannon Magrane hasn't had a perfect run leading into this part of the show.  It's enough to make the Top 24 though.

Scott Dangerfield is hoping that this attempt at making the finals is successful.  It's not.  Jennifer wants him to come back though.

Skylar Laine has been referred to by the judges as a young Reba.  If that's the case, of course she's through.

Also making through to the semi finals of American Idol are Hallie Day, Chase Likens and Aaron Marcellus.

Last year DeAndre Brackensick made the Top 40 but missed out on the Top 24.  This year is different as this year he'll be singing for your vote American!

American Idol 2012 - The Top 24

Submitted by The Critic on Wed, 2012-02-22 19:24

Tonight we'll find out who has made the Top 24 of American Idol.  Exciting.

First up is Jen Hirsch.  She is in!  As is Creighton Fraker.  Lauren Gray is up next but isn't going any further.

Joshua Ledet makes it into the Top 24 of American Idol 2012

It's the end of the road for Naomi Gillies and Blair Seiber.  It's different news for Haley Johnson though.

Nico Starr has missed out this time.  As has Clayton Farhat, River St James and Caleb Johnson.

All the hard work has paid off for Elise Testone who claims her spot in the top 24.

Can drummer Reed Grimm make the Top 24?  Yes he can.

Erica Van Pelt makes it through before two country singers learn their fate.  Chelsea Sorrell earns a place in the Top 24.  Baylie Brown makes it to the Top 24, 5 years after she first auditioned.

Cowboy Richie Law is heading back to the ranch.  Heejun Han isn't going anywhere other than the Top 24.

American Idol - Las Vegas round - S11E11

Submitted by The Critic on Thu, 2012-02-16 19:10

It's time to find out if our 70 remaining contestants can handle the big stage as the final test of worthiness hits Las Vegas.

It'll be the hits of the fifties with the queen of mean, American Idol vocal coach Peggi Blu.

The contestants are put into groups before they sing some classic rock and roll where they'll be either cut, or put through.

First up is Cari Quoyser, Chasen Likens, Skylar Laine and Colton Dixon sing Dedicated to the One I Love.  They're all pretty good and it's hard to pick someone I'd cut first up.  A difficult call for the judges coming up.  It's the end of the line for Cari though.

American Idol Hollywood Week - Group Day - S11E10

Submitted by The Critic on Wed, 2012-02-15 19:13

It's a two hour torture tonight as our remaining contestants have churning stomachs, either by nerves or by the bug many of them have caught.

First to take the stage are The Betties. They're really not that great with Hit 'Em Up Style after being so sick and only Jennifer Malsch and Carrie Quoyeser progress while others head home or to the bathroom to throw up some more.

Hit 'Em Up Style (Oops!) - Bittersweet

Hollywood Week continues - S11E09

Last night we left Symone Black lying on the floor after she fell off the stage, leaving her unconcious.  She comes to and they take her to hospital.  The line that had been waiting, finally learn their fate. Jeremy Rosado and Nico Starr make it through.

185 survive day one of the American Idol Hollywood Week round but next up is the Group round.  The drama is about to take it's toll.

For the last 10 years, the groups night has caused so much drama.  Clashing personalities, difficult song choices, choreography, drama!

The groups need to be made up of both day one and day two contestants.  Some groups form quickly and easily but there are plenty of others who can't find others to join with them.  It's shaping up to be another disaster filled round.

After everyone finally gets into groups, Symone Black arrives back from the hospital.  Her father is rather annoying and it's good to see him finally leave her alone to get on with it.

Hollywood week begins - S11E08

Submitted by The Critic on Wed, 2012-02-08 19:03

309 contestants are about to embark on the most gruelling week of their life as they arrive in Los Angeles for the American Idol's Hollywood week.

Half of the contestants will take to the stage on day one while the rest will get their turn tomorrow.

The next round begins right now.  Groups of ten will take to the stage and sing without any feedback.  Then it's sudden death.

Johnny Keyser is awesome.  He proves once again that he is a star.  Heejun Haan is worried after hearing Johnny sing but he seriously has nothing to worry about.  He has a bright future ahead of him.  They make it through.

Elise Testone has the wow factor.  Baylie Brown is ok.  Hallie Day is ok as well.  They're all through though.

Jen Hirsch and Lauren Gray both make it through to the next day.
