Will Ryan Seacrest miss American Idol tonight?

Submitted by The Critic on Wed, 2012-04-25 17:32

TMZ is reporting that Ryan Seacrest might miss tonight's episode, the first time in 11 seasons, due to a bad stomach bug.

Ryan Seacrest feels like crap ... so much so he missed the rehearsal for "American Idol" tonight, and sources connected with the production of the show tell TMZ ... Ryan may be MIA for the first time in the 11-season run of the show.

We're told Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe stepped in for Ryan during the dress rehearsal this afternoon.

Sources say Ryan had an IV in his arm, and is fighting "a bad stomach bug."

Ryan was not at the rehearsal and it's unclear if he'll do the show.  If he doesn't, Nigel is ready to step in.

It's most unfortunate when you read the blurb for tonight's show and it says "The finalists face elimination; LMFAO".

53 Million votes were cast last night, the highest of the season so everyone has obviously decided to take the results seriously.  Someone is still going home.

Before LMFAO and American Idol alumni Kris Allen perform, there are few other orders of business to deal with.

Who is going home tonight? American Idol Elimination prediction

There will be no save tonight. Someone is going home!

According to our polls, once again, Jessica Sanchez, despite last week's "shock result", is at the top with nearly a third of the vote.  Phillip Phillip is in second place with 21% while Joshua Ledet is in third place on 14% and Hollie Cavanagh is the only other contestant to make double figures.

Colton Dixon and Skylar Laine are both on 8% while, as I predicted yesterday, Elise Testone is at the bottom on 6%.

As far as who you'd like to see go home goes, Elise Testone again tops that poll with 26%.  Jessica Sanchez and Hollie Cavanagh are second equal on 19% which is interesting.

After last week's American Idol judges same it's a night of deja vu as the Top 7 get to perform all over again.

Tonight, the contestants will get two shots at winning your vote with two songs.

Here's how it went down:

Hollie Cavanagh
Song Choice: Rolling in the Deep
Rolling in the Deep - 21

My thoughts: A beautiful start to the show and start to the song.  A little pitchy in places though.

TMZ have said it's going to be a shock result. We think the judges save might come into play tonight.  The results are live, now.

The Top 7 kick off the show with a group performance of P!nk's Raise Your Glass.  I'm not sure what the deal is this week but the group performances are just not that great.

Top 7 Elimination: Prediction

Despite TMZ's latest tip off being that one of the favorites is going home tonight, let's take a look at how the polls are stacking up.

The vote from last night was all pretty consistent across the board with total votes ranging from 10% to 22%.  Your Top 3 from last night were Jessica Sanchez (22%), Phillip Phillips (17%) and Hollie Cavanagh (15%). The Bottom three were Colton Dixon (13%) while Elise Testone and Skylar Laine each had 10% of the vote.  Joshua Ledet was firmly in the middle of the pack.

As far as who you wanted to go home tonight, 33% of you wanted Hollie Cavanagh to be shown the door.  Interestingly enough, from the comments after the show last night, the majority appeared to be desperate pleas from her fans for everyone to vote and keep her in the competition.

TMZ have just sent out the following release:

There will be a stunning turn of events on "American Idol" tonight, because TMZ has learned one of the absolute favorites to win the competition will be eliminated.

Sources connected with the show tell TMZ ... producers are scrambling to persuade the judges to use their "save" on the contestant.

We're told producers actually thought 2 of the 3 contestants in the bottom tonight were strong candidates to win the entire competition.

And we're told the person who is booted tonight is the one producers thought was the strongest on the show, and they are as stunned over the vote as they were when Jennifer Hudson was kicked off the show.

Tonight our finalists are performing songs that were released from 2010 until today so it should be a good show with lots of current hits.

Mentoring the contestant his hit maker Akon.  There will also be duets.  Here's how it went down:

First up the Top 10 perform The Longest Time.  I love this song and the group performance is really good.

Who will be cut from American Idol tonight?

Last week we said goodbye to Shannan Magrane while Elise Testone and Erika Van Pelt hung on for survival after being in the bottom 3.

This week, according to our polls, Elise has redeemed herself and will be safe.  Erika Van Pelt, however, is not looking in good shape.

The bottom 3 from your votes on our poll this week are Skylar Laine, Deandre Brackensick and Erika Van Pelt but Joshua Ledet was not too far away from third place that it wouldn't be surprizing to find him sitting on one of the three stools tonight.

Jessica Sanchez reigned supreme with 27% of the vote while Colton Dixon and Phillip Phillips were the only other two to break double digits with 19% of the vote each.

In regards to who you want to see go home the most, Heejun Han took 38% of the vote while Deandre Brackensick came in second with 26% of the vote.

Results are next!
