Who is going home? Top 4 elimination

Submitted by The Critic on Thu, 2012-05-10 18:33

70 million votes later and we've got the results.  Tonight the top 4 become the top 3 and the remaining contestants will be getting a bit of time off to jet to their home towns for a visit.

Before we get to the official part of the evening there are some songs to be sung.  First up, the final four perform California Dreaming.

And it's performance recap time.  Phillip Phillips is up first but he's not getting a verdict.  Neither is Hollie Cavanagh.

Top 4 Elimination prediction

We're about to learn who our Top 3 are for American Idol 2012.  With only four contestants remaining, the results are much closer than I'd have imagined they would be which does suggest that the result is going to be a real battle.

This week, it looks as though it is Hollie Cavanagh's turn to leave the show.  Jessica Sanchez is the overall favorite with 35% of the vote while Joshua Ledet has just edged Phillip Phillips out for second place with 24 and 23% respectively.

As far as who you want to go home, Hollie has topped that poll with 34% of the vote while Joshua Ledet is your least preferred contestant to be eliminated.

Your favorite song of the night was And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going by JEssica Sanchez while Joshua Ledet's It's a Man's World was second and Phillip Phillips version of Volcano came in third.

Who is going home tonight? Results. Live. Soon.

After months of grueling competition, in only 2 weeks we'll be crowning the next American Idol.

It's another duel round of competition tonight.  First up is California Dreaming with songs either from or about the golden state and then songs that each of the contestants wish that they'd written.

Here's how the show played out:

Phillip Phillips
Song choice: Have You Ever Seen The Rain
Have You Ever Seen the Rain? - Chronicle: 20 Greatest Hits

My thoughts: That was a tad boring for me and a little pitchy in places.

Tonight we've got Carrie Underwood and Coldplay in the house.  Meanwhile, someone else is leaving us.  The polls suggest it might be Skylar Laine.

Here's how the elimination went down.

First up is Joshua Ledet.  He is safe.

Next up, Hollie Cavanagh and Phillip Phillips.  Hollie is in the bottom 2 tonight while Phillip will be back next week.

Finally, Skylar Laine and Jessica Sanchez.  Skylar is bottom 2 while Jessica is safe!

After 60 million votes were cast, going home this week? Skylar Laine!

Joshua Ledet
Phillip Phillips
Jessica Sanchez

Bottom 2:
Hollie Cavanagh
Skylar Laine

Prediction: Top 5 Elimination

After last night's performances, let's see who the polls are suggesting will meet their musical demise tonight.

The Top 2 contestants last night, according to our poll, were Jessica Sanchez (29%) and Hollie Cavanagh (23%).  Joshua Ledet was in third place with 22% so those three should be safe.

The bottom two were Phillip Phillips (14%) and Skylar Laine (12%).  At this end of the competition, whoever goes home is going to upset a few people.

In the who would you like to see eliminated poll, Phillip Phillips was your number one choice with 29% of the vote.  Skylar was second on 21%, Jessica third on 20% while Joshua Ledet came in 4th with 16% and lastly Hollie Cavangah on 14%.

Who is going home? Results are live shortly.

We're down to 5.  It's 60's night and I'm semi excited.  Hollie is going to have to really step it up tonight as I think she could be the next to go.  Here's how it played out.

Hollie Cavanagh
Song choice: River Deep, Mountain High
River Deep Mountain High - River Deep-Mountain High

My thoughts: This wasn't too bad for Hollie.  It wasn't too oversung and she actually made a fairly decent job of a seriously over sung song.

American Idol bullies

Submitted by The Critic on Mon, 2012-04-30 01:59

When the American Idol contestants got to "comment" on each other last week I wondered what the deal was with some of the things they were saying behind each others backs and then broadcast for the world to see.

Perhaps it was all in good fun and far more edited and staged than it appeared but some of the comments did seem a little hurtful with some of the responses being that of shock.

One commenter emailed with the following observation.

I just watched the Idol where they made fun of each other; I thought of the some statements were cruel. In my opinion, they were verbal bullying; which is not a good thing to project to the young viewers. Bullying is a big enough problem without IDOL approving  of it.

Was it bullying?  What did you make of it all?

58 millions votes were cast last night but it won't be enough for one of the American Idol Top 6 tonight.

Idol Alumni Stefano Langone is performing tonight, as well as Katy Perry.

Elise Testone and Jessica Sanchez are in the centre of the stage.  Ryan tells Jessica that it's not looking good... for the other 5 contestants.. because she's in the top 3 tonight.  Elise is in the bottom 3.

Prediction: American Idol Top 6 Elimination

Submitted by The Critic on Thu, 2012-04-26 17:16

By the end of the night, only 5 will remain.  Who will it be? Let's take a look at the polls.

This week, our Top 3 has Jessica Sanchez at the top with 26% of the vote. In second place, and also with more than 20% of the vote was Phillip Phillips (21%). Third place was held by Skylar Laine, but only just.  There was only a single vote between her and Hollie Cavanagh.

Joshua Ledet was in 5th place while Elise Testone languished well at the bottom with just over half the number of votes that Joshua recieved which should mean tonight is her turn to say goodbye.

As far as who you want to go home, Skylar Laine appears to be the least disliked with 9% of the vote.  29% of you want Elise to go home tonight the most.

Of all the songs performed last night, Jessica Sanchez's Dance With My Father was your favorite with 22% of the vote followed by Hollie Cavanagh's The Climb.

The results are soon.

The American Idol Top 6 perform the hits of Queen

Submitted by The Critic on Wed, 2012-04-25 18:13

It's the episode I look forward to the least. It's Queen night.  Brian May and Roger Taylor are mentoring everyone this week.

Ryan Seacrest is apparently not feeling too well so will we see him run for a bucket during tonight's show?

Who is really going to ruin a classic song tonight?  Here's how it went down.

Opening tonight's show is a group performance with both Brian and Roger of a medley of Queen's songs.  Fat Bottom Girls, Another One Bites the Dust, We Will Rock You and We are The Champions.
