The X Factor USA - S02E09 - The Top 24

Submitted by The Critic on Wed, 2012-10-10 18:15

120 made it to boot camp. 60 were cut from the competition.  Tonight, only 24 will remain for their chance to win The X Factor and the five million dollar recording contract.

Tonight will feature Will.I.Am, Nick Jonas, Marc Anthony and Justin Bieber as the mentors who will help the judges cut their groups of 6 down to 4.

Who will make the judges homes?  The judges deliberate and make their cull.  Which of the soloists that are cut will be invited back as part of a group?

There are four categories again this year but this time it is a little different.  The girls and boys are gone and instead it is Teens, Young adults, Over 25's and the groups.

Through to the judges homes:

Young Adults
Cece Frey
Willie Jones
Jennel Garcia
Nick Youngerman
Paige Thomas
Jillian Jensen

Over 25's
Jason Brock
Daryl Black
David Correy
Tara Simon
Tate Stevens
Vino Alan

The X Factor USA - S02E08 - Boot Camp part 2

Submitted by The Critic on Thu, 2012-10-04 18:17

It's one on one tonight in the battle for the chance to head to the judges homes.  They may both make it or they both may not.  It's game on.

First up tonight are Jennel Garcia vs Tara Simon who are singing Landslide but Simon Cowell didn't get why they chose that song.

Next up Beatrice Miller takes on Carly Rose Sonenclar with Pumped Up Kicks but it's not as fun as I'd hoped to have seen from the two younguns.

Vino Alan takes on David Correy with What's Going On.  Despite becoming good friends, David is prepared to do what it takes to knock him out of the competition.  Vino is disappointed with his performance but the judges don't seem disappointed at all.

Diamond White vs Dinah Jane Hansen are squaring off against each other which further entrenches the fear that Dinah has towards a much younger contestant who is incredibly talented.  They're singing a very mellow version of Stronger but Diamond is the brighter star on that stage.

The X Factor USA - S02E07 Boot Camp

Submitted by The Critic on Wed, 2012-10-03 18:09

We're here already.  All the contestants who have made it to the boot camp in Miami, Florida are nervous about the next stage of the competition.  They gather from all corners of the United States to prove they have what it takes to proceed to the next round and the shot at stardom and the $5m prize.

120 acts make up the numbers of those living it up but by the end of the week, only 24 will remain.  This is about to be the most intense week of their lives says Simon and Britney tells us that they're about to be put through some pretty difficult challenges.

This week, the contestants will see exactly who their competition is.  By the end of the day, half of them will be going home.

First up is 13 year old Diamond White.  She sings I Have Nothing and as one of the youngest contestants in The X Factor, she certainly shows the rest of the contestants how it's done.  21 year old Paige Thomas is very nervous.

The X Factor S02E05The X Factor S02E05 auditions - Providence

Submitted by The Critic on Wed, 2012-09-26 18:13

The auditions roll into Providence, RI tonight and the judges are all acting like divas.  Britney's manager wants to mess with the judges assistant and sends him off to find a straw hat for Ms Spears while Simon arrives with a police escort while riding a motorized bicycle.

Adonis and John are employer and employee who are singing Lionel Richie's Hello.  It's terrible and the audience let them know with booing while Britney laughs.  LA tells them that at least they have day jobs.  They're out.

Pretty much like the next 10 minutes of no after no after no.  At the first ad break, the judges are wondering if they should have come here at all.

The X Factor S02E04 auditions

The fourth episode of X Factor auditions takes us to Greensboro tonight.

First up tonight is the African American version of Scotty McCreery.  Willie Jones is a 17 year old with a look that says he's all about hip hop when in fact, he sings country - "Your Man".  Another four very enthusiastic yeses from the judges send him through to bootcamp.

It's goodbye to her band and hello to a solo career for the unique sounding vocals of 18 year old Julia Bullock.  She sings Pumped Up Kicks and all the judges think she's a star.  We'll be seeing more of her.

Krysten Colon finally has the confidence to bring us what she hears in the shower.  She sings "Don't You Remember" but Simon hates Adele.  He asks her to go away and come back with a classic song as he thinks she is worth taking a risk on.

The X Factor S02E03 auditions

Submitted by The Critic on Wed, 2012-09-19 18:15

Kansas City, MO is the destination of today's auditions.  Apparently Simon isn't feeling well so a stand in judge is attending today.  There is triumphant glee from those waiting to audition as with Simon out of the way, the pressure won't be as high.  Or will it.

Standing in for Simon is X Factor UK judge and manager of some of the UK and Ireland's biggest acts - Louie Walsh.

First up tonight is freestyle rapper Rizloe Jones.  He's full of confidence and impresses the judges but I fail to see how he can maintain a place in the competition with such a limited style. It's still four yeses from the judges though.

Evolution of the Online Music Industry

It wasn't that long ago (in fact there are some still bleating on about it) that digital music was deemed to be the killer of the music industry.  Oh how wrong they were.

The X Factor returns S02E01

Submitted by The Critic on Wed, 2012-09-12 19:37

The X Factor is back!  Hallelujah!  Simon Cowell returns to Fox with a new line up of judges joining him and LA Reid.  Demi Lovato and the sensational Britney Spears.

First up tonight are the auditions in Austin, Texas.  21 year old Paige Thomas is up first with I'm Going Down and knocks it out of the park.  It's four yeses right out of the gate and The X Factor is off to a great start!

If ever there was someone you'd compare to Justin Bieber, it would be 13 year old Reed Deming.  Bruno Mars is his weapon of choice and then Grenade before the judges waive him through to the next round.

How will you follow The X Factor 2012?

Submitted by The Critic on Thu, 2012-08-09 19:19

The X Factor isn't too far away now so it is probably worthwhile considering how your TV experience is going to be once it starts.

How is your picture looking on your TV?  Are you getting crystal clear reception?  Are you getting all the channels you need?  Don't be missing out on all the extra commentary the myriads of other TV shows and hosts will be presenting.  How is your internet connection?  Slow?  Make sure you're able to keep up with all the online gossip, tweets and the all important ability to vote by voting online.

Then, once you've got your cable TV and internet sorted you'll be ready to see if Simon Cowell's The X Factor USA can improve it's ratings on the 2011 season and maybe even prove why it's the better format than American Idol, right? We all know that it's true.  You just have to look at the changes American Idol introduced in 2012.  Copycat much?

Who is the fairest of them all?

Had American Idol still be on, the contestants may very well have found themselves at the premier of the new movie Snow White and the Huntsment.  Who is the fairest of them all?
