Oklahoma auditions 2013

Submitted by The Critic on Thu, 2013-01-31 19:09

It's the final audition round for American Idol. Oklahoma here we come.

Karl Skinner wants to prove gingers have soul.  He's very entertaining. He wants to be uncomparable which he definitely is.  It is one of the most entertaining auditions of the series so far. The judges tick the boxes and he's through to Hollywood.

It's all no, no and no for the next block of contestants who have little to no talent at all.

Next up is Nate Tao who is a sign language teacher.  He sings For Once In My Life and he's really good.  The judges like him and think his singing is effortless. Another ticket to Hollywood finds its way into his hands.

Ventriliquist Halie Hilburn has bought her puppet to audition with.  It's pretty crazy. Finally the puppet disappears and she auditions properly.  It's a pretty voice and Keith tells her that he thinks Oscar is holding her back. She's through to Hollywood but I'm not sure if Oscar received it as well.

San Antonio and Longbeach American Idol Auditions

Submitted by The Critic on Wed, 2013-01-30 19:04

It's the final week of American Idol auditions and tonight we hit San Antonio, Texas and Longbeach, California.

Cue the music, roll the cameras, let the Mariah Cariah and Nicki Minaj show continue.

It has been six years since the auditions have rolled into San Antonio and first up we have Vincent Powell who is a huge Mariah Carey fan.  He sings Rock Me Baby and we're off to a great start tonight.  Last year he made it to the Hollywood round and this year he'll be back for another attempt.

Derek and David Bacerott murder You Should Let Me Love You.  They are completely delusional about their talent. Thankfully, Nicki tells them that their part of the audition is over and they are ejected so we can hear some real talent.

Savannah Votion totally delivers At Last.  She's very good.  Subtle and yet powerful.  I really want to hear more from this girl.  She is easily through to Hollywood.

The Nicki and Mariah show - part 4

It's Southern stardom again tonight as we hit Baton Rouge.  Will Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj manage to keep it together or will they be bickering more than two pre-school children?  Yeah.  Of course they will.

First up tonight is Megan Miller who is needing surgery.  She sings Good Feeling and wins over the judges and starts tonight's episode off with a golden ticket to Hollywood.

17 year old Charlie Askew reluctantly thinks he's the next American Idol.  He's singing Breakthrough and he's actually very good and a very interesting character.  He's quite musical theatre but pleasantly surprising.  Randy calls him seemingly dark. It's all yeses and he's through to Hollywood as well.

More from the Nicki and Mariah show aka American Idol auditions 2013 part 3

Charlotte, North Carolina is the destination for the next round of fueding between Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey, I mean, American Idol Auditions.

Feedback from last weeks debut was pretty unanimous. You hated the Mariah vs Nicki stuff.  And the ratings seemed to reflect it as well.

Enough with the reminiscing though, first up this week is fashionista, Naomi Morris.  It's really not a good start though.  Perhaps we should just go back to talking about Nicki and Mariah some more.  The judges drag it out but it's an inevitable no.

It looks like we're starting the week with all the freak auditions.  Next up is Joel Nemoyer who is an advocate for singing while lying flat on the floor.  It's just plain weird.  After a bit of fun with him, he's given another no despite setting an Idol first. ZZzzzzz

American Idol Chicago auditions 2013

Here's to an episode tonight that is more about the 2013 American Idol contestants as opposed to the judges.

First up tonight we see country songbird Mackenzie Wasner. She sings Whenever You Come Around and really impresses the judges who think she has a huge road ahead of her.  And with that we have our first ticket to Hollywood.

Austin Earles has Mariah laughing at his rendition of Fantasy.

The Prayer is Kiara Lanier's song choice for her audition.  She recently sang for President Obama and has all the judges saying wow.  The love that she's beautiful, young and has so much control over her voice.  More unanimousness from the judges.

Stephanie Schimel is delightful with Dream a Little Dream of Me.  It's pretty all round.  The judges love her but Nicki doesn't think she's been as magnetic as the rest of the auditions they've seen so far.

Season 12 starts now!

Submitted by The Critic on Wed, 2013-01-16 19:07

It's the dawn of a whole new season of American Idol.  It's new.  It's fresh and it has new judges.  Welcome to Keith Urban, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey who will sit alongside Randy Jackson for the 12th season of American Idol.

The auditions kick off this year in New York and it's the same script so far with the judges arriving and the hopefuls looking smitten by the stars.

The Lincoln Centre is full of pumped up contestants but right out of the gate, the drama that we've been hearing about between Minaj and Carey beings to unfold.

Nearly 20 minutes into the show and it's all about Mariah and Minaj which is already tiresome.  Can we hear some new talent please.

28 year old Tenna Torres sang for Mariah when she was 13 and now she is auditioning for her.  She sings You've Got A Friend and she's quite pleasant to listen to.  It's unanimous and she's our first golden ticket winner through to Hollywood for 2013.

The X Factor USA - S02E18 - Top 10 Performance

Submitted by The Critic on Wed, 2012-11-21 19:38

It's Thanksgiving week on The X Factor and this week our acts are paying tribute to the people who have helped them out in their lives.

Tate Stevens kicks off the show with I'm already There.

I'm Already There - I'm Already There

Tate's a nice guy and despite sitting at the top of the voting results, he's just too boring for me.

The Top 16 of The X Factor USA - Live blog

Submitted by The Critic on Wed, 2012-10-17 18:46

After a 40 minute delay thanks to the rain interrupted Cardinals vs Giants, The X Factor is finally going to air.

Tonight we find out who the judges have chosen to make their top 4 for the live shows.

First up tonight is Britney Spears and the Teen category.

First up to learn their fate is Diamond White.  I can't believe Britney won't take her.  Thankfully I'm right and she is the first one through to the Live shows.

Carly Rose Sonenclar is up next and I like her but I'm not sure she can win.  She is through though.

Next up is Arin Ray and he's through to the final four as well.  I wouldn't have picked him but he's final performance was better than I thought he had been.

James Tanner is up next but I can't see him going through at all.  He's going home which is completely fair.

Khloe Kardasian and Mario Lopez to host The X Factor USA

Submitted by The Critic on Tue, 2012-10-16 17:14

Khloe Kardashian and Mario Lopez have signed million dollar contracts and will co-host this season of The X Factor USA.

I'm excited. So much so I can't even remember the name of the guy who hosted the show last year!

The X Factor USA - S02E10 - The Top 24 to Top 16

Submitted by The Critic on Thu, 2012-10-11 18:11

Tonight the Over 25's and teens get to strut their stuff and try and convince their mentors not to cut them.

Over 25's
Jason Brock
Daryl Black
David Correy
Tara Simon
Tate Stevens
Vino Alan

Beatrice Miller
James Tanner
Carly Sore Sonenclar
Diamond White
Reed Deming
Arin Ray

It's LA Reid's turn to have his acts audition.  He has absolutely no faith in his acts at all so it sucks to be them.

First up is Jason Brock who sings Unbreakable and he really is quite good.

David Correy sings Domino and it's a good mellow version.

Daryl Black sings She's Gone and it's ok but it's lacking the personality of Jason and David.

Tate Stevens finds himself in the position of being quite unique in his category.  I doubt he'll win but he could be a star anyway.  He sings Back at One and it's ok but nothing to write home about.
