American Idol 2008 Episode 7 Recap - Atlanta Auditions

Submitted by The Critic on Wed, 2008-02-06 22:29

We've been to Atlanta three times before and have found three stars: Clay Aiken, Jennifer Hudson and Fantasia Barino. Between them they've sold millions of albums and one of them, Jennifer, has even won an Oscar. And now we're back for more.

p>12,000 people flocked to the biggest city in the south, including Ryan's parents. First up is 26 year old Joshua Jones from Atlanta, GA who is a glass worker. He's hoping to throw away his glass cutting tools despite his love for the trade as he auditions for a spot in Hollywood with Queen's Queen - Queen: Greatest Hits I & II - Don't Stop Me Now Don't Stop Me Know. He has freaky eyes which Simon says looks demonic. They like his voice but ask him to turn around and sing without facing him. Simon thought it was a bit karaoke but Randy and Paula want to see more of him.

Someone with a sad story to tell but has a lovely smile is 18 year old Asia'H Epperson from Joplin, MO who's father passed away a couple of days ago. She's singing LeAnn Rimes - LeAnn Rimes: Greatest Hits - How Do I Live How Do I Live as a tribute to her father. She's got a really nice voice with some rich husky tones. She's breezing through to Hollywood.

18 year old Brooke Helvie from Wellington, FL could very well be this years Kellie Pickler. She's cute but the whole act seems a little fake. She sings Jackson 5 - Jackson 5: The Ultimate Collection - Who's Lovin' You Who's Lovin' You and they like her. Three yeses and she screams. Simon thinks she's the most annoying person he's ever met and was actually hoping she wouldn't sing well.

There with her 93 year old Great Grandmother is 16 year old Alexandrea Lushinton from Douglasville, GA who is singing Chet Baker - My Funny Valentine - My Funny Valentine My Funny Valentine and gets love from all the Judges.

22 year old Motorcycle riding nurse Amanda Overmyer from Mulberry, IN rocks out some Janis Joplin and the love her and even call her the female Chris Daughtry.

Finally in Atlanta is 18 year Josiah Leming from Morristown, TN who has been living in his car, tripping around and doing gigs. He's singing his own song, To Run, and it's pretty good. He sounds English when he sings and the judges like him but Randy wonders if he'd be better in a band. They think he's interesting and with three yeses, he's off to Hollywood and he promises they wont be let down.

20 others made it to Hollywood from Atlanta and now they'll join the rest who have made it to the next round for some intense times as they're slowing cut until we have 24 left.
