American Idol 2007 Episode 37 - Top 4 Elimination Show Review
What a hard decision it was this week to pick someone to vote for. Why, at the Top 4 week, can't the contestants be singing songs and performing like their lives depended on it. They all just seem happy to "see what happens next" and no one has really convinced the country that they really are a star.
Last week we lost two people and that seemed to do nothing to shakes things up this week as we get down to the business end of the competition.
Barry Gibb will be performing tonight. I really hope he's lip syncing cause he sounded terrible last night.
Ok, enough rambling. Let's check out what every one sang last night.

Yep. It was pretty dismal again last night with no one really making any effort to keep their fans voting for them.
Now, this weeks polls. How are things looking according to your votes on idolblog.com?
In the "Who is everyone's favourite Idol" poll this week, Jordin Sparks is on top with a resounding 48% of the vote. Melinda Doolittle has second place sewn up on 24%, only just ahead of Blake Lewis on 23% while Lakisha is way down the bottom on 5%.
When it comes to who you want to see going home Lakisha Jones has 54% while Blake Lewis has 28% followed by Melinda Doolittle on 13%. Jordin has certainly become the favourite.
When it comes to the DialIdol results, Lakisha Jones and Melinda Doolittle are the two unlucky punters. Blake is on top with Jordin a close second.
Based on these results, I think it would be safe to assume that Lakisha Jones will be going home tonight.

I think that fat and ugly and cheap nubian excuse for a Shrek look-a-like overstayed her welcome. I'm glad to see her gone and want to see that cutey Blake take it all the way.
wow, little harsh there. its because of people like you that the music industry is the way it is. why does it matter what a person looks like as long as they have that god given gift???? would u rather watch someone that has the looks and the body but is missing the actual talent of singing( britney spears, lindsay lohan, hilary duff..just to name a few). I think all three finalists are amazing in their own way. get over yourself, im sure your not much of a looker either.
I'd just like to say I'm pretty disgusted with this show now. I don't think I'll be watching this piece of shit show again. how can it be called the AMERICAN IDOL when a bunch of teenie-boppers are voting. Who clearly can't distinguish a good voice.
Screw this show.
There are so many people out there that just don't know good singing when they hear it. Melinda was consistant each week throughout the competition, thats the signs of a true performer. So what, if she singed background with some famous singers, she not that professional, no one has ever heard of her until now. She has just as much rights to be on the show as anyone else. Only the best should be on there anyway, remember we are looking for an a American Idol. I think, Melinda and Jordin are the two best singers, and Blake will be going home this week.

Black and Lakisha were the bottom two. Clear and simple. This isn't a legal contract, American Idol producers don't have to say "bottom two" - because for most people with an IQ it's obvious when two people are standing there.
Also several media outlets reported that Blake and Lakisha were the bottom two without retractions. I dunno, are you gonna trust some site run by a pimply teenager or the Boston Globe?
For some of you, I think you're gonna choose the teenager. Don't worry tho - you can still have your sex fantasies with Blake if he's in the bottom two or not.
You can't trust any site to have real idol results. Not one of them is consistent.
Malinda shouldn’t be allowed she is a professional singer, she sings backup for Aaron Neville. Come on man, maybe Stevie Wonder or Paul McCartney should try out.
I have said this from the beginning.... get her outta there because its not a fair competition with her in it. She deserves to get her career moving without winning. She's amazing, we know that!! Let others have a fair and REAL competition.
WOW It's true! Blake Lewis had the most votes. Jordin was second and Melinda third. Lakisha was indeed voted off.

"For someone supposedly so sweet, Melinda said a really mean thing tonight. She said she auditioned with her friends so she can see the “funny people” audition. And that she “thought” you had to audition in order to see these “funny people”. Right. Melinda auditioned to laugh/ogle at the other people audition (or “enjoy” them as she said). That was foremost on her mind than to live out her dreams by taking a shot at American Idol. That’s one of the stupidest answers I’ve ever heard from someone who could win this thing. Always say you want to be the American Idol that’s why you are there, no matter how corny it is, or at least invent an answer that’s not as mean-spirited like what Melinda just said.
Also, ironically, it was a bad move to mention that she read the comments about her looking like Shrek and a platypus. Ouch. I don’t know what she was thinking, but her fans have gone beyond her looks from Day 1 — and those who cannot get past her looks will never be able to because they’re shallow that way — she shouldn’t have dignified those things by addressing it voluntarily. It serves no purpose to anybody.
So: 1. Melinda auditioned for the sole-purpose to watch the “funny people”, then 2. Melinda is hurt by the comments that she looks like a “funny people”. Shaking my head in disbelief."
She is a wonderful person as well as a great singer. It has been said to say how you feel no matter what that is, becuase if you hold it in it will only hurt yourself. I love that some people can say how they feel with dignity. I pray that Melinda wins because she is the voice of tomorrow.

Melinda is a fantastic singer and may be a great person but your initial opinion of her is one of ,,,,,, hmmmm she just looks a little "odd" doesn't she.... the Shrek comment was just mean... LOL
Sorry, Jordin Sparks will be going home. Blake and Melinda will be in the final two. Jordin isn't that good (boring), blake is unique, Melinda is good (Rock-n-Roll night) but not unique. Blake will win.

I spoke with someone who has predicted every Idol winner correctly... Jordin will win ... She deserves it, she's a powerhouse vocal, beautiful, young, spunky,......and Blake with those ewwwww chicken lips (gross!!!!),,, haven't you noticed he can't even open his mouth beyond the size of a Loonie ( Canadian $1 coin ) sure he can sing tho.

Coca Cola, i.e. American Idol's biggest sponsor, i.e. The Company that furnishes TPTB their most revenue from the show, has already awarded Jordin Sparks their coveted "Rising Star of the Year Award".
I think this pretty much ensures her the win... especially if it's rigged like I'm certain it is.
It should also be noted that Ford (American Idol's second biggest sponsor) awarded Jordin a Ford Fusion on yet another talent contest...
Has anyone noticed that Jordan has gotten"whiter" as the weeks progress? She started off the show with a head full of "nappy" hair, and now she is looking like Mcfee from last season.( the white princess in "distress" look) I hope you white folks save her, so she can go back being the black nappy headed girl she was in the beginning of the season

i guess America is dumb, cause they don't know how to read or freakin listen, ryan never announced top or bottom group. lol!!! the only think people seemed to get right here was that Lakisha was the one voted off, at least they were able to hear that well, i was getting kinda scared.

Blake is good, but Melinda is the voice of tomorrow. Iam not nooking Blake by no means, but look at all the perfornance thourgh out this season. Melinda got what it takes to be the new American Idol.
I have to admit I haven't followed American Idol at all this season. I only tuned in this week because I'm a big Bee Gees fan. It seems I wasn't missing anything. So what's the deal with the guy? Is that a nervous tic or something? Tourette's Syndrome maybe? That "beatboxing" has got to be the most annoying thing I've ever heard in my life. How on earth did he make it this far?

Actually Blake had the highest actual votes in the polls for favorite, and the lowest for who to go home...
I wrote a script that spoofed an IP and voted against Blake repeatly just to see if I could do it.

Dial Idol is totally ineffective. It can only count a busy signal. If the error message plays on the phone, (which is does more than anything) it thinks it's gotten through.

I loved Lakisha and I am sad to see her go but at this stage of the game you know all four will get contracts after the show is over. Then we will see who they are as true artist. It will be sink or swim when they do not have thirty million people watching them every week and can choose their own material. All that said Blake is the only one of the final four who has every week shown his true style. At this point I think Blake and Melinda should be the final two and from there does it really matter who wins. Face it, any of the final four will undoubtedly produce better recordings the Taylor Hicks... Taylor who?????/
Jordin is the best off all. I am really tired of Melinda making them faces( was I really good). As for Blake his okay just the beat boxing has to STOP.
To get feed back that she get from all the judges I would be shock to get great comments. Put your feet in her shoes, it realy hard to get on stage week after week and to perform as great as she does, you would make the same faces. Dont judge a book by it expressions.

I was glad to see Lakisha go. Her song choices and screaming instead of singing made it hard to listen to her. I LOVE Jordin! For her age she is awesome! True talent. Blake is a very close 2nd. His beat boxing is a lost art form. Has any one ever tried to do it? I think he is great. I like Melinda too, but she doesn't posess that "it " factor like Jordin. Good luck to them all next week!
Finally.Melinda was in the bottom 2.I was happy to see that.Why?People knew it now.Melinda have a great vocal but she makes everyone bored everyweek in the same way.She didn't take a risk when she choosed a song.She didn't like Blake.Only when she sang 'have a nice day',she impressed me much.Thank you guys for always voting Blake.Vote him 4 next week too.
I dont know what anyone has against Melinda, she has the voice of tomorrow. She has a wonderful voice. They way she sings, she tells a story. She make me feel the song as well as hear it. She prove tonight that she will go far in life.
