After a big surprize last Wednesday night we learnt that no one was going to be packing their bags and leaving the American Idol circus. So instead, the pressure is really on this week because we're losing two people.

Tonight should stretch some of these contestants, if not all of them, because tonight we have a bit of a rock thing going on which should put our Idols very much out of their comfort zones.

The treat for the contestants this week is to find themselves on America's #1 TV show being tutored by none other than rock legends Bon Jovi.

Should be an interesting show. Let's get into it. First up:

Contestant: Phil Stacey

Oh dear. If ever there was a performance that begged a red card, that was it. Absolutely dreadful. If Phil manages to stay around after that performance I'll be very surprized. Especially considering there are two people going home this week. Phil has to be one of them.

Contestant: Jordin Sparks

Love the hair but seriously. Jordin's voice just isn't there. She might be fast becoming the favorite to win American Idol this year but she has some serious pitch issues. Perhaps it's because she's only 17. Who knows. But I really think that, despite finishing well, she really needs to be able to handle the whole song well. She's struggling and I'm not liking it one little bit.

Contestant: Lakisha Jones

Isn't this supposed to be kind of a rock themed week? This just isn't working. The band is grinding away but Lakisha is trying to give it a motown/soul/aretha spin. Ew ew ew! What is up with this years contestants. And how did we get to the Top 6 with them sounding like this and seemingly having no clue about performing in front of an audience of millions?

Contestant: Blake Lewis

Ahhh.. finally! Blake is back!!! It has been SO long since I enjoyed a performance on American Idol. It's great to hear Blake putting his spin on things and mixing it up a little. It sounds a little amateurish but a hell of a lot better than some of the other drivel we've heard tonight thank you very much.

Contestant: Chris Richardson

Chris sounds pretty good tonight. It's quite funny hearing him do rock. It actually suits him really well. Considering that we've used to hearing him perform soulful/hip hop/r&b sounding songs this really works on him. This performance may save him this week and really puts Lakisha on the block.

Now this is what Lakisha should have done. It's certainly not her best performance but it finally shows she has some diversity. It's been a long time coming but perhaps Melinda is finally showing us that she's not a one trick pony. It would be very nice to see this continue next week into the Top 4.
