American Idol 2007 Episode 27 - Top 9 Results Show Review
Will the idolblog polls get it right again this week?

Tony Bennett was supposed to be performing tonight, apparently he has a cold so
Michael Bublé has been rushed in to fill his place.
First up though, lets take a quick recap of who sang what:

Taking a look at this weeks polls, what do the numbers indicate about tonight's elimination show.
It should come as no surprize to anyone that Sanjaya is at the top of the "Who does everyone want to go home" poll with 54% - down from 66% last week. Phil Stacey finds himself in third place on 15% while Haley Scarnato is in second on 17%. Everyone else has less than 5% of the vote each.
In the "Who is everyone's favourite Idol" poll this week, once again Melinda Doolittle is at the top and has once again extended her lead, this time out to 37%. Blake Lewis steps back into the #2 place on 18% while Jordin Sparks comes in with 13% of the vote to take third place.
Now, who are the bottom three as predicted by the polls?
It was a slightly tighter race this week but Haley Scarnato takes third lowest spot with 5% of the vote. Second lowest was Gina Glocksen on 4% who simply couldn't muster the same winning performance she gave last week. In the bottom place this week on 3% was Phil Stacey. It should be an interesting result this week because our poll results and dial idols results are significantly different once again.
When it comes to the DialIdol results, third lowest place belongs to Gina Glocksen (7.3%). Second lowest belongs to Lakisha Jones (7.29%) with Haley Scarnato (7.2%) taking the bottom spot. What is interesting is that Phil Stacey comes in second highest behind Melinda Doolittle

all you idol marks have lost your mind - the show's a joke and the whole "vote for sanjaya" proves it. stern's open about his desire to ruin the show and i, for one, think it's brilliant.

I think people take all this too seriously. .I actually get a kick out of this bizarre Sanjaya thing. I think it's kind of funny. I think he is milking his 10 minutes of fame. What the heck, why not, that's what kids do...
as far as talent goes...Melinda, Jordin, Lakeisha, gave a Iof of it, and I enjoy seeing what they will do each week. I enjoy Blake because, although his voice isn't much, he is following some inner directive that is kind of interesting.
I am amazed by the shallowness of people who discount Melinda's talent because she isn't classically beautiful and who cannot believe that she is actually modest.
But in the end - this is just a TV SHOW, it's just entertatinment.... How can anyone care that much about it????? There is much more important stuff going on in the world. And that said, it's time to get off the internet and go do something useful. I suggest the same for others.
I am tired of hearing blames on Sanjaya. People, please stop. If you don't like him, just ignore him. This is a show. It is kind of fun to watch this strange voting result. At least there is no cheating. Who could stop teenagers' love? I agree the others voted off over him were better than him, but not better than other contestants. Let's just watch who is going to win among Melinda, Blake, Chris and Jordin. They are so much talented no matter what.
we are two older rockers and love watching AI for its fresh talent and really do wonder what the heck is going on. The torture that the last three losers must have had when they left the stage and saw a talentless 17-year old, who admitted he never expected to be in even the final twelve....it must have been a terrible few days for them after they were sent home. I hope we all ban together and send him home this week.

the voting system is supposed to show who the american public want to see hit it big. The people you would buy music by. This year its WAY out of whack. I personally am done. Whoa there people! The format of the show is fine. Yes, Gina didn't deserve to go home yet, but at the same time nobody that's been eliminated was going to win the show. Fox and AI cannot stop people like Stern from trying to undermine the voting, but Sanjay-uck is just this year's Kellie Pickler - no talent and the butt of the jokes. As the top 8 dwindle down we will be mercifully rewarded with his departure. In the mean time, enjoy the real talent on the show: Blake, Chris, Melinda, Lakisha, and Jordin; even Phil can sing. Ok, yeah, there is miss congeniality. She and Phil will be next and then, lord willing, he will dissapear.
Too bad for Gina, her rendition of "Stand By You" was classic....still gives me chills.
BTW, Jordin is unbelievable and will win.
I've been a fan of American Idol since the first season, and even though my choices were not always the ones selected I always had respect for the show. UNTIL THIS YEAR! I have absolutely no idea how Sanjaya even made it to Hollywood -- much less how in the world he's still in the running! I can't even bring myself to watch him perform because I'm so embarrassed for him! It's such a shame that his very presence is ruining the credibility of what was a very reputable show! I realize the vote is in the hand of the American public, and trust me I DO cast my votes, but I agree that something should be done about this from within -- the producers, the judges, SOMEONE should stop this insanity before it causes irreparable damage to the integrity of AI!
I cannot believe what I am seeing Gina did not deserve to go home. Sanjaya can't sing all he can do is come up with new hairstyles for the show! He needs to give it up ! I have been a fan of American Idol,
but I will no longer watch the show if the nonsense doesn't stop. Sanjaya its time for you to go! You know its the truth. Theres a saying the truth shall set up free. So go.
I am really down. Gina was my pick. Not because she has the best voicem but because she could actually be a pop star. The 2 black women have superior voices, but face it - do they have the looks to carry American Idol? Gina was the whole package - looks, personality and voice. I hope an agent or recording company realize what a jewel she is. I am rooting for Blake now. What a cutie pie. Smooth and hot. I won't comment (much) on Sanjaya - get lost, LOSER. Voting for him to screw the competition is sad. Simon has the power and the balls to pull the show if it gets ruined by naysayers. Or he could step in and give the judges some veto power!?
I will give this episode one more week. They knocked off one of my favorites, Gina and if I Sanjaya isn't out of there next week I might not watch it next year. What don't these people understand!!! It's a singing competition. Listen to Simon on this one!

I first started watching Idol last year and really thought it was a great show. I wanted Chris to win but hey not everyone liked that type of music. I could not wait until the 07 season. It was very clear from the first show that the talent was not as deep as 06, but I still enjoyed the shows.....................Once the Hollywood cuts were made and down to the top 16 it was funny to see the cross section and styles of singers. Funny how the judges could select so diverse group and no Kelly Pickler or Bucky types this year. Now we are down to eight. Man it is hard to believe whats left. I can't sing but I do know 1 person I could beat in a singing contest. I think this show has become just a commercial for Ford Motor Company and Coca Cola oh yes and Simon. I have not watched since Sundance was cheated by the creepy Michael Jackson twin. Good luck to the rest that are left as it appears the winner is already been selected.

All I can say is, Howard Sterns and The vote for the worst website are detroying American Idol. It's funny if you check it out , you will see Taylor Hicks holding up a T-shirt. It gives me some Idea that this has been going on since last year. Cause Taylor Hicks Sucked and Now we see this Ass of a singer Sanjaya doing this same thing.

Why is This Sanjaya still around? Has the Americans become so stupid that they can't differentiate between who is good and who is lousy? The real JOKE is really on SANJAYA! Who will go and pay to see him perform in concerts? Who will buy his CDs?

All I can say is this is a perfect example of what happens when you give thirteen year old girls cell phones. The creepy looking prepubencent boy stays (aka Sanjaya) and one of the few people who can actually sing gets sent home. And most likely, because she's not exactly as main stream sexy as Haley "Legs" Scarnato or as tween queen dream as Sanjaya "I look like a slimy pimp with my hair slicked back and an oversized suit" Malacar.
For this being the first year I've ever watched American Idol, I must say, they are not likely to get my tv viewing time next year.

I think that Giina definately should have been saved, although this week was not her best, she is way better than Phil, and legs! It is just so wrong!!
Amen to that!!!!!! I think back to Gina's cover of the Pretenders and she was great. She is so much better than Legs and Phil!!! And don't even get me started on Sanjaya, what a f***ing joke. America must have their head up their ass or FOX is tampering with the votes!! In fact who does their counting, is it an independent firm or FOX's own people? After Gina's exit I'm boycotting AI and FOX !!! Somebody somewhere is doing something sinister and my bets are that FOX is manipulating the vote to create drama in order to keep the ratings up. AI & FOX suck !!!
And in the tears falling from Gina's face last night reflected my own resolve to walk away from Idol and its bitch, FOX TV.

Total B.S. Gina has an amazing voice. Maybe this week was not her best performance, but come on! She's way better than a few of the remaining. I thought she had a real chance at the final three. If someone like Jordin or Blake gets sent home before Sanjaya I'll never watch the show again. This whole Sanjaya thing is way past funny. I'm sure he's a nice kid and just as bewildered as anyone about this. It a cruel joke on him as well as us.

This is crap....Does he feel at all bad that GOOD people are going home for his "joke" . He has to know he sucks I wont be watching the show next season if he makes it much further. Yes, Yes!!! I totally agree!!! I was so upset because who in their right mind would eliminate Gina and keep Sanjaya, a pretender who can't even pretend he has talent, what a f***ing joke!!! Gina should not have gone plain and simple! I suspect FOX is doing something unethical in possibly manipulating the vote to boost the drama/controversy and hence their ratings or either America has the dumbest populace on the planet!!
I can't take it anymore. After watching Gina's unwarranted and unfair exit from the show I'm boycotting FOX indefinitely and invite everyone else who has half a brain to do likewise!! They said goodbye Gina, I say goodbye FOX & AI, you both suck!!!

Tonight's elimination was a total joke! Gina did NOT belong in the bottom 3. Sanjaya BELONGED IN THE BOTTOM 3! In fact, he should have been eliminated weeks ago. I can't believe that this show has turned into such a joke - this is supposed to be about talent. If Sanjaya makes it to the finals - you can bet that the show's ratings are going be less than satisfactory next season. I definitely won't watch again!!!!!!

I only watch American Idol to see who goes home. How many people are with me? Pretty much all the reality shows I watch are just to see who gets kicked off. I really wanted to see Tony Bennett sing tonight. Who is the other guy?

You believe that??? How do we know Gina got the lowest vote?? All we can do is take FOX's word on it and you think they are not above manipulating the vote, especially to boost ratings, whatever??!!! FOX doesn't divulge the totals for each candidate nor do they even shed light on how the votes are counted and who does the counting. We just take their word for it....I disgree with you...I think FOX needs to be more transparent in this sham they've got going. You may believe they are above reproach but I think there's a huge ethical problem with them....seems like the whole thing is a fraud to me!!!
i think one fairer system is to have a "who should go home" poll instead of "who should stay" poll... that way CREEPY people who doesnt have anything to do with their lives wont be able to manipulate the voting system by texting hundreds/thousands of times to vote for their CREEPY FAVORITES like SANJAYA.... i'll definitely hate the show if he wins american idol... uhhhggggggg!
