Buckle up folks. The Grand Finale of American Idol 2006 is upon us. Taylor Hicks and Katharine McPhee will be nervously enjoying the next two hours as we countdown to that moment where Ryan Seacrest will tell us who is this year's American Idol.
Tonight, the whole troop is back. Melissa McGhee, Kevin Covais, Lisa Tucker, Mandisa Hundley, Bucky Covington, Ace Young, Kellie Pickler, Paris Bennett, Chris Daughtry and Elliott Yamin are all back to celebrate the season and perform as part of tonight's spectacle.
Everyone appears to be tipping Taylor Hicks as the winner on websites across the internet and Idolblog is no different. Our poll has Taylor on 62% of the vote so with that amount of difference, I think everyone is feeling safe with their tips as to who is winning this thing tonight.
It's going to be a great show tonight so stay tuned for details as they come to hand.

Prince who was rumored to have made a guest appearance earlier in the season but denied it. I guess he'd rather perform at the Grand Final in front of 200million people.

okie,, ahhah, nvm, i JUST found out that WAS clay aiken, now i feel embarassesed when i kept reading "clay aiken and whats up with his brown hair" in many reports, i thought maybe i missed part of the show when clay showed up. oh gawd, here i was trying to find out who THAT mysterious guy was cuz i thought he was incredibly cute. NOW in hindsight, i cant believe i didnt recognize him as clay aiken and actually thought clay was cute. shit, i wanna die.

I think the ones who soared vocally for the grand finale results night were Carrie Underwood and Clay Aiken. Who the heck is that Michael Sandecki? Another William Hung wannabe?

OMG. Prince. PRINCE. That was THE highlight of the show. He's one of the very best musicians in the last 25 years. He is a true demigod. As for AI, I LOVE Taylor and have voted for him every week! He's unique, unpretentious, and incredibly talented. Kat is extrememly talented also, but not at all original. Hooray for Taylor!
Oh, and thank God for Tivo. I fastforwarded through most of it, esp. Burt Bacharach and Clay Aiken.

Glad that taylor - i can say AI is not totally fixed :) other than chris and mandisa he was the most unique, complete performer. And what a break it is having a non generic idol win. His album should be a breath of fresh air

Taylor Hicks won?! No this is surely the end of American Idol...If you don't believe watch the show for the next seasons and see it's popularity go down until it meets it's end. They will not be able to reach their goal on the final season which is rumored to be season 10-12 for the show will die because of Taylor!
Taylor Hicks is a joke, one who people laugh at not with. His clothing style is pathetic and a cry for attention, his appearance is revolting including the owl eyebrows! I would seriously think you to be mad if you wanted a poster of him in your room because you fancy the hell out of him!
Kat deserved the crown title more then him, even though when singing 'My destiny' poorly, her appearance and status was one of an American idol winner. Sadly that did not go the same for Taylor who even though sang the song nicely showed him as one not even deserving enough to join the top 12.
I'm disappointed in you guys...Would you really want a CD with that guys face? I hope you guys get your brain fast!

Although I felt that Taylor was going to win, I am really diappointed that it came to that. Taylor is not a star and never will be! Without his goofy personality that worked on Idol but will not work when people are buying CDs (music no video) he is a nobody. He has a good voice (Not great like Katherine or Chris or Kelly Clarkson, or Diana DiGarmo) but good - but good will not sell multimillions of CDs.
I am truely convinced that millions of votes for Taylor came from people that really were not interested in his music and will not buy is CD - just like Ruben and Fantasia. I do not even know if I can stand to watch another season of American Idol when the results turn out like this. Chris should have won this! But Kat is head and shoulders more of a star than Taylor.

Let's talk about the two hour show for a minute.(Hey, we all knew Taylor was going to win!)
Lost in the chatter of the annoucment of Idol #5 was the quality of the entire program. I thought it was great! Highly entertaining! I just wish that fact was discussed more in the aftermath. A wonderful show! I could almost care less who won!

I am very dissapointed as i think katherine deserved to win. she had it all and was robbed. Katherine was an amazing performer, Awesome voice, The pop look, and of course a like able personality. Where as Taylor had none of that. . . my top 3 would have been Katherine, Paris and Kellie. With paris and katherine in the final with katherine winning it. i didnt think Chris was anything special. american idol was a shocker this year with poor song choices and poor voting. i still think carrie underwood is the best winner any idol has ever had. . .
